The Olympics are international recognized. The original olympics is defined as "games held in ancient times on the plain of Olympia in Greece every four years. It was a time for laying aside political and religious differences. Today, the Olympics has evolved and adapted over time but publicity, respect, nationality, etc. have only increased.
The beginning era of the Olympics
The first ancient games began in 776 BC in Greece and the modern Olympic games returned in 1896. The games were started by the Greeks to honor Zeus. Every four years the games were held because "Olympiad" meant every 4 years. Additionally, Olympiad was how the Greeks counted time instead of years.
Olympic Motto and Symbolisim
The Olympic motto is "Citius, Alitus, Fotrius", which is Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger". In addition, the olympics embody the values of excellence, friendship, and respect. The rings of the symbol for the Olympics represent the colors of the national flags.
