From The Principal's Desk
Greetings North Wales Families,
Happy Daylight Savings! I know waking up this morning may have been an adjustment. However, that means we are one week closer to the start of spring.
We are looking forward to an exciting week of collections for Spreading Shane's Kindness Toy Drive, which kicks off Monday! Students can bring in toys all this week from the most needed items listed on the flyer as well as the Amazon Wish List below. Donations can be dropped off in the office as well. We have collection boxes stationed in the office. On Friday, we are going to host a spirit day in Shane's honor. In celebration of Shane, students and staff are invited to wear their favorite sports gear.
Happy St. Patrick's Day this Friday!
I am looking forward to another great week!
Warmly,
Ms. Dana Kenney
Principal

Cultural Highlights For The Week
Women's History Highlight
Mary Brave Bird, also known as Mary Brave Woman Olguin and Mary Crow Dog was a Sicangu Lakota writer and activist who was a member of the American Indian Movement during the 1970s and participated in some of their most publicized events, including the Wounded Knee Incident when she was 18 years old. In the 1970s, Native Americans were engaged in a series of protests against the American Government over broken treaties and colonial policies that affect Native communities. During this struggle, a Sicangu Lakota teenager known as Mary Brave Bird joined the American Indian Movement (AIM) and quickly emerged as one of its central figures. She participated in many high profile events, including the occupation of the Bureau of Indian Affairs headquarters in Washington and the Wounded Knee Occupation and later wrote her book Lakota Woman, to draw attention to the plight of Native Americans.
Neurodiversity Week - March 13-19
In 2018, Neurodiversity Celebration Week was started by Siena Castellon when she was 16 years old. Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, and organisations with the opportunity to recognise the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual.
St Patrick's Day- Friday, March 17th
St. Patrick's Day is a global celebration of Irish culture that takes place annually on March 17. On St. Patrick’s Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon.

Smart Watch/ Cell Phone Reminder
We have seen a growing number of students using electronic devices and sending/receiving text messages throughout the day, which has disrupted the learning environment. Please note, cell phones should be in silent mode or turned off and stored in bookbags throughout the day. Smartwatches should not be used to make calls, send messages, or take photos/videos during the school day. Also, note the school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal electronic devices. Our school team will be reminding our students of these expectations regarding personal devices.
We thank all of our families for their continued support and cooperation in limiting disruptions to the classroom.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
