Attention 4th Grade Virtual Students
Rental iPad Collection
The following information only applies to students and families who rented an iPad from HSE this year. We ask these families to carefully review the following information.
WHEN AND WHERE WILL RENTAL IPADS BE COLLECTED? iPads will be collected next week at HRE.
- May 24th + 25th - iPad collection. Half of the school will return on Monday, May 24th and the other half will turn in iPads on Tuesday, May 25th (your child's teacher will communicate specifics on when their class will be turning in rental iPads). The 26th will be for any students who did not return their device.
- May 26th + 27th Virtual ONLY - Any students that were unable to return their device on the 24th or 25th will be able to return their iPad return on the 26th + Virtual students will have iPad return on May 27th. Our IT Specialist will be at the school from 8:30am - 4pm to collect iPads.
WHAT NEEDS TO BE RETURNED? All students will return their rented HSE iPad and case.
WHAT ABOUT CHARGING BRICKS AND CORDS? Rented cords and bricks will not be collected. If you are a new renter, you are welcome to keep the rented cord and brick that were issued to you. Repeat renters will not receive a new cord and brick. You may use the one initially provided to you or you may provide your own.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO PREPARE THE IPAD FOR RETURN?
Please take a date/time stamped picture of your students iPad, while the screen is on with the studentβs login information visible. We ask that families follow the directions in the link below to prepare the iPad for return. It is important that families follow all steps in the link. It is important that families DO NOT erase/reset the iPad on their own; HSE Technology will perform this process. HSE Technology will also be responsible for removing the Apple IDs before the device is reset.
WHAT IF THE IPAD IS DAMAGED? WHAT ARE THE FEES? A thorough inspection will assess the working condition of the iPad and case/keyboard and images will be taken to document such damage. Any damage to the iPad and/or case/keyboard will result in fees being assessed to the studentβs Skyward account. Following inspection, the iPad will be erased of all content and stored for the summer.
Sample fees that could be applied to the studentβs Skyward account:
- Missing iPad case for K-6 (or damaged where it cannot be reissued) - $35
- Cracked or severely scratched screen - $85
- Other damage (i.e., bent housings, broken headphone jack or loose video cable) - $85
- Liquid damage to the iPad or other damage to the iPad beyond repair - $294

Kindergarten Enrollment Now Open
Planning has already begun for school year 2021-22 and we are expecting to have a more βnormalβ year. As Superintendent Dr. Bourff mentioned in one of his recent Friday Updates, we expect to have school five days-a-week and in-person next year. However, families should also be aware that:
Β· Start and ending times will be different.
Β· Masks may still be a requirement.
Β· Cleaning and personal hygiene protocols will most likely remain in place.
Β· A virtual learning option will be available.
In the meantime, we need your help with sharing the news that enrollment for next year is now open. If you know of any families with kindergartners or new students that will be attending HSE Schools, please remind them, to start their enrollment paperwork online at hseschools.org/enrollment. This will help us in our preparations.
To enroll your student*, go to your current SKYWARD account and look for the tab labeled "New Student Online Enrollment". If you don't have an account or will be new to HRE, please click the link below to begin the process.
*Students must be five years old on or before August 1, 2021.
