Colton Hills School Bulletin
3 October 2023
Introduction by Mrs Jackson, Associate Assistant Headteacher, Pastoral
Welcome to our first fortnightly bulletin of 2024, in which we will be sharing with you the latest news, events and important dates at Colton Hills. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy new year.
This is an exciting and important term for our year 9 students who are going through the process of selecting their GCSE and BTEC options, its great to see the enthusiasm students show for the next chapter of their learning and we look forward to welcoming year 9 students and their families to our options evening on Thursday 1st February.
We also have four trips at the beginning of this term for our year 7 students to visit Birmingham University. Following the first trip students were very excited to share their experience of the day and possible ambitions for their future.
KS3 students also have the opportunity to audition on Monday 22nd January for our school production of Bugsy Malone, we have many talented students who I would encourage to audition, I am certainly looking forward to seeing the final production in the summer term.
Sixth Form is changing
Our Sixth Form is changing! New displays have gone up since we returned back to school and we love them! We installed some new smart branding outside the Sixth Form centre, updated window vinyls, upgraded signs around the school and also a pathway options display inside the building.
Don't forget our 6th Form application deadline is Friday, 19th January. We have many recommended potential pathways for students to choose from, a successful careers programme and great teaching staff. Find out more at www.coltonhills.co.uk/sixthform
Sixth Form Visits Wightwick Manor
Just before we broke up in December, Mrs Rowley, our Head of English department visited one of the National Trust sites in Wolverhampton with our Year 12 and 13 students. They were looking at Pre-Raphaelite paintings and The Gothic on the beautiful grounds of Wightwick Manor. To find out more about our Sixth Form, visit http://coltonhills.co.uk/sixthform.

End of Year Peter Pan Performance
On Friday, 22nd December, our students performed Peter Pan to all the year groups as well as visting primary school students to celebrate the end of the term. The students did a stellar job and we are very proud of them.
Mrs Daniels, Head of Performing Arts said: "We are very thankful for the students who invested lots of time in the rehearsals and also proud of the choir who opened each performance and also sang every morning in the school reception in the last week of school to spread some festive cheer."
