Reader's Workshop
This week we learned more about non-fiction books. We focused in the similarities and differences between books on the same topic. Some non-fiction books have realistic drawings and some have photographs. We also talked about diagrams, comparisons, and maps in non-fiction books and how they can teach us more!
Writer's Workshop
This week in writing we continued with our illustration study and talked about adding words to our books to help readers understand. I am very impressed with their writing and can't wait to show you how much they have already improved at conferences!
Math
This week in math we practiced writing our numbers and working with length. We measured different classroom items and categorized them as shorter or longer than a popsicle stick.
Sight Words
Please work with your student on the following words:
- An
- Look
- At
- Us
All of quarter one sight words should be reviewed at random times just to make sure they don't forget!
Exciting News!
I am so excited to share with you that my husband and I are expecting our second child! We are due in April and couldn't be happier. Mrs. Lyn Weatherly will be here in my absence for the 6 weeks I will be gone. She is a retired teacher of 27 years in the district with 5 of those years being in kindergarten. She has already been in our room volunteering and trying to get to know your students. I am very confident that she is a wonderful fit for our classroom and the kids will love her! I plan to reveal our news to our classroom on Monday with a fun surprise!
