Stratford Chefs School Writer in Residence Announced
Molly Wizenberg joins the Stratford Chefs School as "Joseph Hoare Gastronomic Writer in Residence"
The Stratford Chefs School is proud to announce:
The Joseph Hoare Gastronomic Writer in Residence (JHGWIR) for the 2016 – 2017 year is Molly Wizenberg, winner of the James Beard Award for Excellence for her celebrated food blog Orangette.
Ms. Wizenberg will be in residence at Stratford Chefs School from November 29 to December 10, 2016.
Launching her Canadian visit on Monday, November 28 2016, Molly Wizenberg will be onstage in Toronto, holding a culinary conversation with Canada’s mother/daughter duo, Lucy and Emma Waverman.
The event will be hosted by Elizabeth Baird at the Toronto Heliconian Club, located at 35 Hazelton Ave. Tickets to the event are $10, and are available via universe.com.
While in residence at the Stratford Chefs School, Ms. Wizenberg will guide first- and second-year students in their writing and communications classes, focusing specifically on new and emerging food media. As both a restaurateur and a highly regarded author, Molly Wizenberg is uniquely suited to the task of working with Chef School students in this capacity.
The Gastronomic Writer in Residence program began in 2007 is named after Joseph Hoare, former food editor at Toronto Life magazine. The program is unique to culinary training in Canada, and allows culinary students to broaden their knowledge of social media, recipe, and business writing.
Molly Wizenberg is the author of two books, A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from my Kitchen Table and Delancey, and her work has appeared in Bon Appetit, The Washington Post, The Art of Eating and The Guardian, as well as on Saveur.com and Gourmet.com. She and her husband own and operate two restaurants and a cocktail bar in Seattle. Most notably, Ms. Wizenberg is the voice behind the critically acclaimed blog Orangette - winner of the 2015 James Beard Foundation Award, and named the best food blog in the world by the London Times.
