BTPS Weekly Update
October 25-29, 2021
Superintendent's Memo - Monday, October 25, 2021
Hi Team,
Last week we had our elections for the Board of Trustees. The results are on our website. I want to welcome all new and returning Board members. Our Board has a long history of supporting students, staff and families in our division.
We are excited to welcome Sheila McIvor, Transportation Assistant, to our BTPS team. Sheila will be working with Chrysti.
Friday was a day of learning in the division. I hope you all attended some amazing sessions and had opportunities to connect and collaborate throughout the day.
Norah Melnyk, the winner of the BTPS logo contest for our orange shirt has given us permission to release the meaning of her logo. She shared at our Student Day and if other classes wish to discuss the logo you can find Norah's meaning here.
Take care and enjoy the week,
Rhae-Ann
Literacy Community of Practice
Hello all,
I am emailing in regard to the BTPS Literacy Leaders Team and the Literacy Community of Practice.
In the Spring of 2021, a Google Form was created and shared with BTPS staff members. The Google Form contained information about BTPS’ Literacy Action Plan and the two literacy groups. I have had some staff members reach out to me this fall with questions about these two groups and how they can join.
For more information and how to join these two groups, you can click on this Google Form: https://forms.gle/najzKWHnHkcoddgv5
Upcoming Meeting Dates:
Literacy Community of Practice - Tuesday, October 26
Literacy Leaders Team - Wednesday, Nov. 3
You can see these dates in our BTPS Professional Learning Calendar. If you are interested, you can click here to add this calendar to your own BTPS calendar.
Please reach out to me with any questions. Take care and have a wonderful rest of your day!

Bus Safety Poster
My apologies, as I updated the link in the website but forgot to let schools know it was ready. The link for the School Bus Safety Week Poster Contest (Grades K-6) is now available.
Here is the link. Please make sure you follow the instructions for poster size and labeling the entries. The theme is "Bus Rules Rock".
Please send all entries to the Buffalo Trail Public Schools Central Office at 1041-10A Street via the van mail or you can drop them off at our office c/o the Transportation Department. The deadline for Submissions to ASTAC is November 6, 2021 so I will need them to Central Office by November 3, 2021 so we can courier them out.
We look forward to seeing the great artistic work of students!
Thank you for helping students learn about bus safety using art.

Gratitude
This month we are focused on Gratitude. I would encourage you to scroll through your photos and email me a picture of something you are grateful for. Feel free to send a quote, explanation or let the photo speak for itself. Feel free to submit more than one :-) These pictures will be compiled, but no names will be attached.
Thank you to those who have sent me gratitude pictures. I am absolutely loving all of the babies, pets, plants and nature pictures I have received so far!
Send pictures to michelle.webb@btps.ca with the subject line Gratitude Picture.
Be well,
