Top Ten

Congratulations to the students who ranked Top Ten of their senior class! These students have spent many hours studying and taking advanced classes to reach the top of their class. This year's Valedictorian is Bethany Szcepanick and the Salutatorian is Lanie Ruiz. #3 is Roxanne Pautin, #4 -Gavin Avey, #5- Mile Moxley, #6- Leiah Bodden, #7-Haley Laffler, #8- Tayelor Casey, #9- Leorardo Fernandez and #10 is Madison Perez.

Big Art Day 2023

Ms. Arreando's and Mrs. Vega-Louviere's art classes celebrated Chalk Day 2023 on March 3rd outside the theater area on the sidewalks. Chalk day is a day for students to work with chalk and create colorful chalk images. "Some students planned their designs out in advance and other students created sponatenous designs," said Mrs. Vega-Louviere. However, they decided to express their creativity, the students had a good time soaking up the sun and creating colorful images for all to enjoy. The senior class, construction crew, led by Mr. C. Luna, did a fabulous job creating Dr. Verstuyft's retirement rocking chair. "It took about a week to build the chair and another two weeks to build the rocker," said Mr. C. Luna. Dr. Verstuyft was able to select the stain and the rest was up to the class. They presented his rocking chair to him on Monday morning, and Dr. Verstuyft will definitely make good use of it!

Congratulations to Isaac Das who placed 1st in Individual Spelling and Haley Lafler who placed 9th Individual in UIL spelling. The team placed 1st in team competition which consisted of Isaac Das, Haley Lafler, and Jacob Singleton. The students competed at McArthur High School on February 21st.
Two students who were entered into the Dee Howard /UTSA PreK thru 12 Aviation & Aerospace Art Contest won 2nd and 3rd place. Shoutout to Valeria Montoya for placing in 2nd place and Juan Rivas for placing 3rd.

Compact and Parent Involvement

Dear Parents!


We need your help! Do you have ideas that will help SWHS run smoother?! Do you want a voice in what's happening on SWHS campus and the students? If so, we need you! We are looking for 4 to 5 parent volunteers.



Parents, members of the community, and school staff will meet to discuss the design and implementation of the Parent & Family Engagement Policy.
