Section 1: New and Important For This Week

7th to 8th Grade Enrollment Update
7th Grade Parents:
Your 7th grader should have completed their 21-22 Course Request Card this week via PDF Form. This was to be turned into their Knight Time teacher in Canvas. Please review this with your student if you have yet to do so.
This week during Knight Time, they will enroll into their 8th grade courses in Skyward. “A Day” students will complete this on Monday 2/8. “B Day” and Remote students will complete theirs on Wednesday 2/10. Here are the instructions for Skyward Enrollment.
If you have questions about our classes; check out this slide show presentation of videos with our IHMS teachers. Additional information about 8th grade courses can be found in the 2021/2022 Middle School Program Planning Guide.
*For further questions contact our 7th Grade Counselor: Tanner Laird, at tannerlaird@smsd.org.

Hybrid "Snow Day" Procedure
Those students that were to be asynchronously learning that particular day will still login remotely to their Knight Time course at 8:45 a.m. and then access their work/courses asynchronously via Canvas throughout the remainder of the day.
If your student is unable to attend remotely on a "snow day," normal daily attendance procedures apply.
=============================================
Remote Learning Days: February 17, 18, and 19
The week of February 15 is already a short week due to Presidents' Day and teacher professional development. Please plan for the remainder of that school week (Wednesday, 2/17 - Friday, 2/19) to be remote learning days.
This was not the preferred option of our district or our secondary schools, but due to the overlap among secondary personnel, transportation logistics, and other scheduling factors, this was the only viable option for the remainder of that particular week.
All remaining weeks will operate on a normal hybrid schedule after 2/19. Any "No School" Fridays remaining on the district calendar will not affect hybrid in-person days on that particular week.

Academic Learning Lab (A.L.L.) Begins This Week
The Academic Learning Lab (A.L.L.) supports and models productive out-of-class learning conditions. The A.L.L. program connects students with a member of our IHMS core teaching team and is designed to reinforce concepts and provide a constructive environment for students to grapple with challenging homework assignments, make-up tests/quizzes, and missing work. Students do not need to sign up for A.L.L., but it may be recommended or required (in collaboration with parents) as a support for students who need more structured academic support.
Students can attend A.L.L. after school in the IHMS library Monday-Thursday from 3:50-4:30 on their A/B hybrid learning days. Students can also access remote tutoring sessions via the WebEx links that can be found on the IHMS Academic Learning Lab Canvas course Week at a Glance.
Your student can be picked up in the front entrance circle drive at 4:35. If you reside in the IHMS attendance area, "late busing" is available for your student free of charge. Late buses begin February 1 and will provide student transportation for bus routes in our IHMS attendance area.

We hope that this will be another resource for our families to navigate this unusual school year. You can also find this page on our Student Services tab at https://indianhills.smsd.org/ or in your student’s Knight Time course in Canvas, under the Student Services button.
