Principal's Message
It looks like fall will make its arrival just in time for our Homecoming week. This week is a perfect example of the amazing commUNITY we have at Grapevine High School. We celebrate the over 110 years of history and tradition as we welcome home alumni. This truly is one of my favorite weeks of the year. We get to see the impact that GHS has had on so many people over the years.
GCISD Parent Technology Academy: The Parent Technology Academy will be conducting presentations and classes on various topics including: family access classes, social media and apps to be aware of on your child's devices, ways to encourage proper usage of technology at home, understanding text lingo and the apps students use to communicate as well as ways older students can promote themselves online to increase visibility for scholarships and more.
Technology would like for you to use this link to get some feedback from parents on what kind of classes they would like.
Communications Survey
The week of September 25th, GCISD will launch a communications survey for parents, staff and community members. You will receive an email from K12 Insights with a link to the survey, but it will also be available on the district website. We are asking district and campus communications questions and will provide the data upon completion.

Please congratulate the following students.

Counselors' Corner
Save the Date: Do you have questions about colleges, career pathways, and/or financial aid? Come get your answers all in ONE EVENING! GCISD College & Career Night is combining with our annual Financial Aid Night on Tuesday, October 24th from 6-8 p.m. at CHHS. All high school students and parents are invited to attend and connect with representatives from over 125 colleges (4-year, 2-year, technical), as well as military personnel. There will also be financial aid presentations to help families navigate how to pay for college.
Important Message for Seniors: Please make sure that you are requesting your transcripts for universities, scholarships, and the CommonApp through Parchment. Your CommonApp process will stall if you have not requested your transcript through Parchment. Also remember, those using AppyTexas will need to request a transcript to each individual college you listed in your ApplyTexas application. If you are having difficulty requesting transcripts come by and see your counselor ASAP. Early application deadlines are typically November 1st and December 1st. Check on the college website to ensure you are aware of the date!
Seniors Requesting Counselor Recommendations: If students have submitted requests for counselor recommendations to accompany their college application, counselors will have those uploaded into systems such as CommonApp and SendEdu by the admission deadline window indicated. If you are requesting a recommendation letter (required as part of the application) to be mailed to an institution, please provide your counselor with an addressed envelope with postage.
Class Visits: Using Google Hangouts, counselors were able to visit with Senior social studies classes to review resources to assist with college applications. Next up, GHS Counselors will begin their Freshmen chats next week to discuss the GHS Counseling Website, and become familiar with the GHS guidance and counseling services.
ASVAB: The Armed Services Vocational Assessment Battery (ASVAB) will be offered at GHS on November 7th at 8:40 am in the Library (Lecture Hall) Open to 10th grade - 12th grade. GHS, CHHS, and Bridges students welcome. The ASVAB is a validated assessment that assesses aptitudes and predicts success in a wide variety of occupations. Seniors and Juniors are encouraged to participate. No charge and no military obligation. For more information go to http://asvabprogram.com. Sign up for this test must be done through http://www.gcisd-k12.org/Page/46199
