Principal's Message
December 3, 2021
Dear Walnut Hills High School Families:
I hope that you, your family and loved ones enjoyed a great Thanksgiving. I think a lot of us regard Thanksgiving as one of their favorite holidays because it brings together family and friends and allows us to think about what we most value without a lot of other distractions. I want you to know that I am incredibly grateful for our students, faculty, parents, and alumni - and especially, how we work together to provide our students with outstanding opportunities here at Walnut Hills High School.
Now, here we are in December, and the holiday season is in full swing. The end of the first semester is only weeks away, but there is a lot that happens in the weeks ahead. The students will be preparing for exams in their classes, something that has not happened since December 2019. That means that all of our students are a little out of practice with semester exams, and many of our students will be experiencing them for the first time. I know that I don't have to tell you that the exam period can be one of additional stress for students. All kids are different and react to stress in different ways, but please be aware that your child may need a little more understanding - and perhaps a little more structure with healthy sleep and study schedules - as they take on these challenges.
Additional information about the exam schedule and permission slip for late arrival/early dismissal is below. This is also an exciting time of year as our students showcase their talents in the fine arts and winter athletic seasons. If you need a break from the holiday busy-ness, please come join us for a game or performance.
Sincerely,
John Chambers

Exam Information
Students of all grades are permitted to take advantage of late arrival/early dismissal during their study hall with parent permission. The form is here and must be submitted to the grade level offices by Friday, December 10.
WHHS math teacher Mr. Stefanou and his students have developed a tool to help students calculate their semester grades: http://stefanou.net/gradecalc/
There are two ways that students can use this application:
1. Students enter their S1 grade, projected S2 grade, pick a desired grade from the drop down and click Calculate Exam to see how well they need to do on the exam to get that grade.
2. Enter their S1, S2, and exam grade, then click Calculate Grade to find the semester grade.
