BES Weekly Updates
Week of September 28-October 2
Now, for the updates and reminders this week, we know that there is a lot of information coming your way right now and many choices to be made. This is a lengthy update but full of great information so please be sure to read to the end!
Please complete the survey shared by Dr. Raley prior to 4:00 p.m. on Friday October 2 for each elementary child who is currently enrolled in our schools. Let us know if you will be choosing to send your child to school or if they will continue with their current distance learning approach. Please note that the choice you make will be binding through the end of the first semester that ends on Friday December 18.
We are here to support you through this process. If families need assistance completing the survey, more information about the plan or a paper copy of the survey please call the school at (804) 556-5380.
Equity and Inclusion in GCPS
At their meeting on September 8, the Goochland County School Board affirmed its commitment to providing our students, staff, families, and visitors a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. At this meeting, the Board unanimously approved a revision to our Standards of Student Conduct (JFC-R) that aligns directly with their resolution adopted at their meeting on June 9, 2020, their three equity goals, their Equity Policy, and our division’s Engage 2026 Strategic Plan. Specific revisions were made to sections related to disruptive conduct and student dress. Our school division remains committed to providing an equitable and inclusive work and learning environment that embraces diversity, condemns racism, and is free of harassment and discrimination for everyone.
