Health & Fitness Challenge

Orchard Park Families, we are excited to announce that OPES and the PTO are partnering with Health Coach, Kristi Whitaker, to bring you a fun family health and fitness Challenge just in time for the new year! Get healthier and more fit as a family and raise money* for our school! Double Time™ is a 30-day program with workouts (18-32 mins in length) that feel more like play and less like work! Designed with families in mind, it’s a fun way for you and a partner (like your spouse or child) to exercise and eat yummy, healthy food as a team—all while sharing some one-on-one time! Stay motivated as you log workouts, try family-friendly healthy recipes, and check in with other Eagle families in a private app community throughout the Challenge. You’ll end the 30 days more energized and fit, while building family bonds along the way!

STEAM Resource Drive

We are collecting recycled, gently used, and new items for our upcoming STEAM/Literacy Night in January. Students earn an incentive for each day they bring in items. Click the link HERE for more information on requested items and incentives for each day during the week of December 4th-8th.

Did You Know?

Did you know that research shows that volume of reading is linked to attaining higher-order literacy proficiencies (Allington, 2012) and that the amount of time reading is the best predictor of reading achievement (Anderson, Wilson and Fielding (1988)? At Orchard Park, we use a variety of incentives to encourage students to read outside of the classroom. From October - March teachers use Reading Logs to develop student independent reading goals and track student progress. Students that meet their monthly goal receive a coupon from Pizza Hut for a free personal pan pizza. At the end of the school year, students that have met their goal each month will receive a free book from the PTO. Please be sure review your child’s reading log and have your child turn it into their teacher at the end of the month. Thank you for supporting literacy at home!

Thank you to all who contributed to our Pick-A-Feather program. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and goes a long way to help support our OPES families.
