Hearne Elementary's Playbook
Week of November 26, 2018
Welcome Back!
We hope you had a restful break with your family and friends. As we gear up for the home stretch of 2018, remember to take time to build/restore relationships with your students this week. Not all children get excited about time away from school. Some miss the consistency in their schedule while others crave learning and building brain cells. In order to get to the meaningful work, we must cultivate meaningful relationships. Integrate discussions, collaboration, and reflections of the holiday break to help build a positive classroom culture.
Never forget:
You are making a difference!
You matter!
Your students need you!

This is the last week for Tickets!
Tickets!
Staff members will receive a ticket for actively monitoring students throughout the day (hallway, lunch, recess, etc.), standing at class doorways during arrival, dismissal, and during transitions to monitor hallway noise, in addition to following campus-wide CHAMPS and common area expectations. We are looking to acknowledge you for your diligence and consistency.
Once you receive a ticket from an administrator, please write your full name on the back and turn it in the ticket box located in the front office. At random times during the week, a drawing will be held to reward staff members for making our campus safe and civil each week.
Clinic Updates
Your clinic bags should be updated. If you are missing items, email Nurse Nancy.
Most minor cuts and scrapes, lost baby teeth, nosebleeds, and need for safety pins will be taken care of in class.
Any students who have a nosebleed or loose or lost tooth after a head bump DO need to come to the clinic. All students coming to the clinic need to have a clinic pass (a pad is enclosed) with at least the student’s complete first and last names and the time left the classroom and who is sending.
The student flu shot clinic at Hearne will be Monday, December 10, 2018 from 11:30 to 2:30 pm. The location will be set after we see how many consents are being returned. Please encourage your students to have their parents complete ASAP.

Way to go, Block Team!
New TEKS Training for Bilingual Teachers K-2
We will be hosting another New TEKS training specifically for bilingual teachers. This will be held on Thursday, November the 29th. This training will specifically address the foundational skills for Spanish Language Arts in grades K – 2.
Schools slated to attend this session: Alexander, Best, Boone, Bush, Chambers, Collins, Hearne, Hicks, and Holmquist.
Time: 8:30 – 3:30
Where: Holmquist Elementary LGI
Teachers are already aware if they are attending this training for Hearne.
Be On Time and Use Raptor Daily
Plan ahead to ensure you arrive to campus before your scheduled duty begins.
The Raptor system has been moved to the front office (temporarily). The expectation is for all staff to use it daily to sign in and sign out.
If the Raptor system is down, we will do a manual sign in sheet where you will record your time in and out.
You cannot Raptor in and be at your assigned duty at the same time. Campus safety is everyone's responsibility. It takes the effort from all players for our team to succeed.
