Schoology
Getting Started with Schoology-Learning the Basics (1 hr)
Audience: Teachers
This video provides a basic overview of the Schoology functionality. An introductory slide at the beginning refers to “short term online learning”. This was added to the original overview presentation as a result of many districts choosing to add Schoology into their distance learning platform. You will see that Schoology is a long term, comprehensive solution to support a rich instructional environment.
Next Steps for Teachers: You will be receiving information on a self-paced course to experience Schoology firsthand soon.

What to Shred?
It is very important that our shred boxes are used only for items that truly need to be shredded. We are only shredding benchmark covers, not the tests. Items that include personally identifiable information about students should be shredded or kept for our records. Examples of items to shred include:
- 504 and RTI paperwork
- Benchmark cover sheets
- Previous pink and blue cards
- Scantrons with student's name and ID
What Not to Shred?
- Unused test booklets
- Leftover worksheets
- Scantrons with names only (no student ID)
If you have a question about whether or not something should be shredded, please ask. Do not assume it should be shredded.
Envelopes for Communication and Grades
All teachers will receive an envelope for parent communication. If you take grades, you will also receive an envelope for grades. These brown envelopes will be turned in on your last day (May 26-28). More information about what to place in these folders is shown below.
What Goes in the Brown Envelope Labeled "Communication"?
- Copies of progress reports
- Copies of office referrals or conduct notes
- Parent emails or notes written that you've kept copies of
- Student Contracts--if you have copies
- Phone/Communication logs that you've kept
This information must be kept in our files for three years.
What Goes in the Brown Envelope Labeled "Grades"?
- Grades 2-5 will print out their grades for each marking period for each subject/class taught. These will be turned in the day you move to your new classroom.
- Grades K-1 will turn in monitoring notebook records and records to support the grades on the report card.
