Mrs. Cohen's First Grade News
Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor clothing. It's also a good idea if your child keeps a sweater or sweatshirt in their backpack, as the air conditioner will be turned on at some point this month.
Listed below you will find some important dates:
Book Orders DUE 4/8
Report Cards issued 4/17
Spring Break 4/18 and 4/21
Earth Day 4/22
Arbor Day 4/25
Avery will be turning 8 years old on April 26th. Boyd will be celebrating his 7th birthday on April 30th. Mrs. Fraga will be having a birthday on April 14th!
We are learning about polygons! The kids had a blast making polygons using straws and twist-ties.
A fun and easy way to practice making shapes.
We will be completing our fourth anthology by the end of the month. Then, we will begin our last anthology of the year. The children have been working very hard on their reading this year. We continue to practice reading fluently and understanding what we read. Don't forget to practice the high frequency words as part of the homework.
April is Poetry month. We will be working on some poetry writing that I am sure you will treasure!
We will also begin our Animal Research Projects! We work on these towards the end of the month through May. We will share them in June!
We are still working hard this year and several children are in need of some items.... Please check with your child to see if he/she needs new twistables, markers or pencils. We are always looking for glue sticks and tissues to be donated to the classroom, too.
FInally, please have your child bring a water bottle to/from school each day. This really eliminates a lot of wasted time of running out of class to get a drink at the water fountain.
