Principal's Message
Greetings Chapman families,
Today Chapman staff and students did something a bit unusual: we staged a fire drill from our auditorium. PPS has requested that at least one fire drill a year be held at a time when most students are not in their classroom, so today we held a short assembly in which we reviewed the practice of STOP, WALK, and TALK with a fun video. (Watch the video below.) We also reviewed evacuation safety procedures and then ran the fire drill. I’m happy to report that we had our fastest time ever getting out of the building safely!
It’s that time of year that we share the names of all of the members of our educational community who are moving on from Chapman. These staff are either retiring, making a career change, moving out of district, or were temporary employees who supported us this year with vacancies in our program. To all of them we wish you well in your next career moves and thank you for all you have done to support our students and community.
Barb Andrews, kindergarten teacher--moving to a new job
Sara Derrickson, school psychologist--temporary position
Susan Fuller, paraeducator--moving to a new job
Janel Hansen, secretary--moving out of state
Kristina Machel, LRC teacher--moving out of state
JoLynn Maleah, 2nd grade teacher--retiring
Janice McDow, custodian--moving to a new job
Jennifer Park, secretary--moving to a new job
Liesl Schaedig, 4th grade--temporary teacher
Nadine Trinchero, 4th grade teacher--moving to a new job
Anne Williams, 5th grade teacher--retiring
In addition to the above, it is with bittersweetness that I announce that Britt Kuether has accepted an assistant principal position at Bridlemile Elementary School. While this is a wonderful opportunity for her, we will miss her!
I am excited to share that the secretary position supporting our kindergarten program at the Ramona has been reinstated! Thank you to all who have advocated in numerous ways to bring this position back.

End of the year medication pick up
Dear Families:
Medication left at school must be returned to the parents or be destroyed at the end of the school year per district policy. We are asking you to make arrangements to pick up your child’s unused medication before the last day of school. If we do not hear from you, we will throw the medicine away.
Please pick up your child's medications by 2 pm on Friday, June 8th. Students may not pick up medications from the health room unless they are accompanied by their parent or guardian.
Have a wonderful summer break,
Nurse Amber
Playground Coming Fall 2018!
GREAT News - With the hard work of grant writers, generous private donations and brick sales - we have raised enough money to start construction on the new playground this summer! We still need to raise about $10k to complete the project, so if you haven’t purchased a brick yet, please consider doing so! You can buy online at https://chaps.ejoinme.org/playground. Buy a brick for your child, teacher or go in on a brick with friends. It’s a great way to support the playground and create a lasting memory for you student, teacher or friend.
