1. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Sigma Phi Omega Chapter Scholarship
Cecilia Johnson freshman Tuition Scholarship is now available to graduating female high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.7
Qualifications:
- Complete application
- Official high school transcripts
- SAT/ACT scores
- 3 letters of recommendation (2 academic and 1 personal)
- Official college/university acceptance letter
- Qualifying applicants must be available for personal interview

2. Lauretta Factory/ Mary Ann Jimerson Scholarships
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Eta Kappa Omega Chapter proudly offers the Lauretta Factory/ Mary Ann Jimerson Scholarships. Two scholarships of $1200.00 each for two female and two male 2019 graduates. There is also a $750 schoalrship available for a 2019 graduating high school senior attending an HBCU in the fall of 2019.
See your counselor for the application packet and attach your acceptance letter for the HBCU
Qualifications:
- Must be a female of African American descent and college bound
- Must be a resident of East Chicago or Hammond, IN
- Provide an official transcript with 2.5 or above G.P.A. (Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale)
- Include two (2) letters of recommendation from a high school teacher and/or high school counselor on a school letterhead.
- Provide documentation that confirms that you have passed the End of Course Assessment (ECA) test in its entirety
- Submit a one-page, typed essay (font: Ariel 12, single space each paragraph and double space between paragraphs). Using the three forms of bullying listed (physical, verbal, or mental), how would you address bullying?
- Complete the personal data form attached to the application packet
- Enclose a photo of yourself; may be a copy or scanned photo (PHOTO NOT RETURNABLE)

4. Bachus & Schanker LLC $2,000 Scholarship criteria:
- 800 Word Essay: The importance and efficacy of the 7th Amendment and how it affects your life. Consideration for the entirety of the Amendment (rather than the well-known nutshell explanation of the right to trial by jury) is encouraged.
- High School Seniors who have been accepted to a four year University
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Deadline: July 30th, 2019 (Fall Scholarship)
- Email their essay as a doc or pdf attachment to scholarship@coloradolaw.net.
5. Gary Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Annual Scholarship Application
This Annual Academic scholarship is rewarded in the sum of up to $1,000.00.
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE KAPPA ALPHA PSI ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP, YOU MUST BE A GRADUATING MALE HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR AND MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
- Attend high school in the Northwest Indiana region (i.e. 219 Area Code)
- Have a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.5/4.0 scale.
- Submit the completed application packet to the address listed below. A COMPLETE APPLICATION PACKET CONSISTS OF:
- Completed 2-part Application (Personal Data and Personal Statement)
- Personal Statement (250 words minimum)
- Two (2) letters of recommendation:
- Academic: (Teacher, Counselor or Administrator)

2019 Indiana 4-H Entrepreneurship Academy
Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Indiana 4-H Entrepreneurship Academy.
On June 12-14th youth from across Indiana will develop a better understanding of entrepreneurship to begin making an impact in their local communities. Entrepreneurship Academy is sponsored by Indiana 4-H Youth Development as a 3-day event for high school Indiana students.
Throughout the Academy, participants will attend in-depth workshops to help youth further develop their business idea. The event culminates in final pitch presentation the morning of June 14th. Since 2007, the academy has hosted 446 Indiana youth from a variety of Indiana communities. Over 80% of Academy alumni attend an Indiana college or university, and of these youth, half of them attend Purdue University.
Youth who participate in Entrepreneurship Academy:
· Increase their understanding of what it takes to start a business and gain skills to do so.
· Understand the barriers and risks involved in building a successful business.
· Interact with real-world entrepreneurs with ties to Purdue University.
· Deliver their business pitch to seasoned entrepreneurs and business owners, and receive valuable feedback.
2019 Indiana 4-H Entrepreneurship Academy is looking for future Indiana entrepreneurs in grades 9-12 who have a passion for innovation, create solutions to problems, design a service to help a certain audience, or have an interest in starting their own business, please see the attached flyer and go directly to the website bit.ly/IN4HENTR for more information.

JUNIOR HIGH NEWS!
Champion TBLA Parents, letters were sent home with your scholar to remind you that you still have time to enroll your student in 21st Century Scholars. As a reminder, your student must be enrolled by June 30th of their 8th grade year. You may complete the online application at www.scholars.in.gov, or complete the paper application that was sent home with your scholar, and have them return it to Mrs. Drummond. As an incentive, your student will receive a special treat from Mrs. Drummond.

DONORS CHOOSE
Mrs. Drummond Donors Choose Project, "High Achieving Scholars" was fully funded. This Donors Choose Project was created to provide supplies for seven middle school scholars that will be taking the ACT and SAT test in June. Students will receive a scientific calculator, pencils, erasers, pencil case and a water bottle.
Calumet College St. Joseph Field Trip
On April 4th 32 freshmen had the opportunity to visit and tour Calumet College St. Joseph in Whiting, IN. During their visit, scholars took part in humanities week, and met Paralympic gold medalist, Jared Arambula. Scholars also had a chance to take part in the unveiling of Calumet College's first mascot, Crimson Joe.
