How the Crest Came to Be
The earliest heraldic crests were apparently painted on metal fans, and usually repeated the coat of arms painted on the , a practice which was later discontinued. Later they were sculpted of leather and other materials.
Shield
The shield is the back round to the crest. It can mean defense, resolve, or builder. It can also mean many other things. It is the design and is the actual crest.

Colors
All of the colors mean many different things. Blue means loyalty. Green means hope. Purple means victorious. Yellow means generosity. And red means sacrifice.
