Week 6
September 21-25
Welcome to BOG Week!
Our new schedule worked great last week! We have had most of the class on every Zoom meeting and most of the assignments are being turned in. I continue to be very impress with you all! Just when we were really starting to roll with things, we have to change them up.
It's BOG week! This week the third grade students will all complete the Beginning of Grade test. This test is given to all third grade students in the state of North Carolina. We get some really good data back from this test. It let's us know where your child is with knowing and understanding things in the third grade curriculum. We see where their strengths and weaknesses are so we can push where they need to be pushed and build them up where they need a little extra help.
Most third graders will be taking the BOG on Tuesday the 22 or Wednesday the 23. Regardless of which day you chose for them, they will need to be at school around 8:00 am. I always encourage my students to try to get a good nights sleep before the test, eat a healthy (but not too big) breakfast and come to school fully awake and ready to go! Students may take up to 180 minutes for the test, but most will probably finish in about an hour and a half. When our testing session has ended for the day, I will let you know via Class Dojo.
Monday, September 21 is a teacher workday and a "Remote Day" for all students. Students will be working from home like usual, but I will only be hosting one Zoom on Monday morning. We will meet at 8:00 am, which is 15 minutes earlier than usual. The recording will be posted to Google Classroom later in the day. In the meeting I will explain assignments and expectations for the day.
Since I will be administering the BOG to parts of the class on Tuesday and Wednesday, there will not be any live Zooms those two days. I will have recorded lessons posted for students to watch to learn about their assignments that day. On the day your child takes the BOG, they will not be required to complete any remote work. The BOG will be their work for that day. I know this is different, so if you have questions please reach out!
