Letter From The CEO:

It’s November, and we have three amazing opportunities for you!

First, it’s NaNoWriMo time. If you don’t know what that is, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. Normally during November we’d gather people together for a couple of writing sessions, but this isn’t a normal November. Instead, we’re hosting a contact-free writing contest. One of our local artists, Bethany Bailey, has given us permission to use her artwork as writing prompts for everyone. Look for the art on our Facebook page, write a story and submit it before the end of November. The community will vote for the winners, and there are prizes for every age group. Sharpen those pencils!

Second, we’re looking for people who would like to serve on the Library Board. We’re working on exciting developments right now, including a possible library expansion, and are looking for community members who want to help guide the library into its next phase. Visit our website or call the library for an application—any adult who lives within the library district may apply. (Library district boundaries are not the same as town boundaries, so get in touch with us if you’re not sure whether or not you live within our district. Odds are good that you’re in.)

Third, the Friends of the Library Silent Auction kicks off at the end of the month. While logistics prevent us from hosting the Silent Auction in our community room, all the great baskets and gifts you fight for every year will be available for online bidding. Check it out starting November 30 on the Friends of the Library’s website:

Stay safe, stay well, and let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you.

Amie P.

Library CEO

It's Never Too Early To Start Reading

Create a culture of reading in your home! Join 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and track what you (or others) read to your child. Come in to the library to collect completion stickers! Finish the entire log book and pick a free book to keep!

Click here to download reading logs.

Reading Is Knowledge

We’re debuting our newest series, our Compelling Issues Book Club, starting in September. We know that it can be difficult to have discussions about issues like racism, poverty, hate speech, mass incarceration, gender equality, and other critical topics for our community. We’ll use specific books to focus our conversations, and keep the groups small to encourage kind and constructive conversations about these challenges our society faces. Click here for more info.
