Message from Geordie

Afternoon everyone,

Short and sharp today! It has been a really busy and rewarding week here at St Bernie’s with all our teachers engaging in planning meetings. This has been an opportunity to discuss the structure of our English and Mathematics blocks, the assessment we are using to group and differentiate the curriculum and the resources we are using to engage students in their learning. Many excellent discussions and ideas have come out of these meetings and I would like to thank all our teachers for their hard work. The more we work together and discuss what best practice looks like in our context, the more consistent we become and the better the outcomes for students!

Down in our Library Miss Roberts has been busily organising and running the Book Fair which many of our students have already utilised, this is a great opportunity to find excellent books for your child to enjoy and also helps the school to resource its library. We encourage your children to get along and have a look – there are some beautiful books in there!

Attached to this email is the latest COVID info from CEWA and the State Government. Please read it carefully as it is important we all stay on the same page. Our community has done SO well to this point and while there is still a rocky road ahead, it is important that we stay calm and understand the rules in with the best interests of the children in our care at the forefront of our actions! To those who are in quarantine or isolation – we are thinking of you and looking forward to having you back as soon as possible!

The weather seems to be calming down this weekend, I hope you all have the chance to relax and have some fun! Audrey, my daughter, has specifically requested sushi and a movie so I am looking forward to an Uber Eats and couch kind of night!

Due to the current environment we find ourselves in, we are experiencing a much higher level of emails coming through the admin email address.

School Community Safety

We would like to remind our Bernie's families to not leave young children in the car when dropping older children off, or collecting them from school. If you are experience difficulty with getting siblings into or out of school, please ring the office and we will assist where we can.

Edu Dance at St Bernie's

Dear Parents,

Have you heard your child speak about Edu Dance? All St Bernie classes have been participating in Edu Dance and have had a blast. They have been practicing their dance routine throughout the term and have put their best effort in. The style of dance is hip hop. We will have a concert in Week Ten. More information will come home to tell you about the costumes and time. Sadly, parents will not be able attend the performance due to corona virus restrictions, but the performance will be recorded and shared with the parents to watch.

Have a good day!
