Mac Key Club

Key Club in the month of February:

So far we have three days of volunteer events scheduled (more info below), but we are also planning something for the school...

Valentines Cards for Teachers!!!

Starting this week we will organize days where Key Club members can get service hours by helping make, sort, and distribute Valentines cards. Later this week I will make available volunteer slots during lunch to "sell" the cards (they will be free). Below is the design of one of the cards...

Let me know if you have questions.

SOTX Winter Games

Friday, Feb. 5th, 5pm to Sunday, Feb. 7th, 3pm

5700 Grover Avenue

Austin, TX

Mac Key Club Secretary Solana Oliver found a great service project for us. Dart Bowl is hosting a Special Olympics event Friday, February 5 through Sunday, February 7.

Use the link below to access the volunteer registration form. The link will be available until Thursday, February 4. If you sign up to volunteer at this event, you must be ready to help people with disabilities bowl. When choosing the time/shift you will volunteer, keep in mind MR. GARRISON DOES NOT WANT McCALLUM KEY CLUB MEMBERS LEAVING CAMPUS TO VOLUNTEER WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN CLASS. Please select the volunteer shifts available Friday night or anytime on Saturday and Sunday . . . .

Mac Key Club members who volunteer at this event will be responsible for their own transportation to and from Dart Bowl. A McCallum Key Club Service Project Sign In Sheet will be at the Dart Bowl front desk during this event. Sign in when you get there and sign out when you leave. Volunteer hours will be documented on your service transcript according to the times you sign in and sign out.

Let me know if you have questions.

Texas Natural History Collections

Monday, Feb. 15th, 9am-4pm

10100 Burnet Road

Austin, TX

We're going back to the Texas Natural History Collections on Monday, February 15 (student holiday in Austin ISD). This time our members have the option to volunteer in the morning (9AM to 12PM) or afternoon (1PM to 4PM). We can take 15 volunteers in the morning and 15 volunteers in the afternoon. 3 hours will be added to your service transcript for this project - 6 hours if you volunteer in both shifts.

When we volunteer at the Texas Natural History Collections, we label, organize and place fish specimen jars on collections shelves; tag and photograph fish specimens for documentation in a digital database; count, label and preserve fish specimens; assist with general lab work and perform maintenance in the collections facility. This volunteer work is typically sourced to students at The University of Texas.

Here's a link to photos of McCallum Key Club volunteers helping at the Texas Natural History Collections in the past:

If you want to participate in this service project, indicate you are GOING on this event page AND let me know which shift you want (morning or afternoon) with an email to mccallumkeyclub@gmail.com The deadline for claiming a volunteer spot in this gig is Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016.
