Eastwood High School
Principal's Update #20 - November 28, 2017
Dear Parents & Community Members
Everyone always wants to "peak" at just the right time and as a school community we seem to be doing just this as get ready for the upcoming state championship game on Friday. As our football team continues their historic journey, the school spirit and pride continues to soar as well. This momentum certainly extends beyond the brick and mortar walls of Eastwood High School and can be felt throughout the community.
Several students have already started to make signs to support our team that will be placed throughout the community, t-shirt orders were being placed yesterday at a rapid pace, and there was an outpouring of support from families and community members as we gear up for our next "Championship - Spirit Bus" offering.
The "Spirit Bus" a memorable experience for our students over the past two weekends has been a great opportunity to transport our students safely to the event and at a reasonable cost. Appreciation is certainly extended to Sue Volshow (Transportation Director) and all of our drivers who have done a great job in helping with this endeavor. Additionally, we've told students that when you factor in tickets, gas money, turnpike tolls, parking, and meals by going alone, it tends to get really expensive overall. Going on the "Spirit Bus" eliminates this high cost and really puts the focus back on an inexpensive alternative while allowing the students to simply cheer as loud as possible for the team.
Updated details about the "Championship - Spirit Bus" are below. We've already filled nearly two buses and will certainly look forward to filling more as we move through the week. If you'd like to help support this activity in any way, please contact the main office so that we can plan to make this the most memorable, exciting, and least expensive alternative for our students to travel safely to Canton on Friday.
Thanks for your continued interest in all of our programs offered at Eastwood High School.
Go Eagles!!!
"Spirit Bus" planned for Championship Game
"Spirit Bus" Update
A “Spirit Bus” for high school students is being organized to transport the best student section in "Eagle Nation" to the OHSAA Division V Championship game on Friday, December 1st vs. Wheelersburg HS. Kick-off time is set for 3:00 PM at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, OH. Since the game is being held on a neutral site - which is more than a 2 hour drive away - we thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to continue our efforts in take our students as a group to help fill the stands with Eagle pride to support our team. As a reminder, there will be no school on this day so that everyone can have the opportunity to cheer on our team for this historic game.
Final details are still being worked out for this opportunity, but here’s the general game plan:
Spirit Bus - “Team Feed” in the cafeteria from 11:00-11:30 AM. Join us for a quick luncheon filled with lots of food as we gear up to rock the stadium in Canton.
11:30 AM.....Depart Eastwood HS for Canton
2:15 PM.....Arrive at stadium in plenty of time for Pre-Game festivities prior the kick-off
3:00 PM.....Kick-off vs. Wheelersburg HS
5:30 PM.....Depart stadium for return to Eastwood HS
6:00-7:00 PM (approximate).....planned dinner stop on return to EHS following game
9:00 PM.....Approximate arrival time at EHS
The cost of the "Spirit Bus" ticket will be $15.00/person which will cover the cost of the OHSAA Playoff ticket ($11/Pre-Sale Ticket) , "team feed" prior to the game, and snacks as we've done over the past couple of offerings. The students seem to have really appreciated all that's been done and it has reduced their need to eat prior to leaving or spend extra money at concessions during the game. Again, if anyone would like to help support this activity in any way to help defray the overall cost or donations so that we can plan to make this a memorable and exciting offering for our students to travel to Canton, please contact the office as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made.
We've added a quick "dinner stop" on our return to EHS following the game as this will be a long day traveling for everyone involved. We're still finalizing the details, but it'll most likely be a fast food restaurant (McDonalds, Subway, Wendys, Taco Bell, etc...). The dinner stop will be at the student's expense so they should plan accordingly.
A sign-up sheet is in the office and many students have already started to secure their spot for the festivities. All money for "Spirit Bus" tickets/food will need to be purchased no later than 12:00 (noon) on Thursday, November 30th. We look forward to providing this safe - and memorable - trip to our student body.

General Information - Stadium
Here's a couple of quick thoughts/updates that we should probably anticipate:
- The OHSAA Championship Game will be held at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, OH. This is the site of the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame Game and it is a beautiful facility. Our team will be treated like "pros" for the day immediately upon their arrival. Should be a great experience for them.
- We've already seen a ticket price increase from earlier rounds as the Pre-Sale tickets now cost $11/Pre-Sale Ticket with a $14/ticket charge at the gate.
- Parking around the stadium is not available due to construction and we're told that most will be parking at the fair grounds with then being shuttled to the game. Please plan accordingly with your time and be prepared for a parking charge of $5 (from what we're told).
- Since this is an OHSAA Championship Game there will most likely be an higher than normal concession prices at the stadium. With the increased prices in other aspects like tickets and parking, concession costs increasing can also be assumed. Again, please plan accordingly.
