MAP testing is underway
Here are some photos of the students working hard in our lab taking the Measuring Academic Progress assessment in our computer lab. Our 4th graders use their netbooks in order to take the assessment. The results will be compared to the fall results in the hope the children have progressed and shown their growth in reading and math and in 3rd and 4th language arts too.
Getting started

Fourth grade non-fiction research
Some of our fourth graders are digging deeper into topics which aligh with the non-fiction portion of their reading instruction with readers' workshop. The photos are explicitly about the work in the library and the different choices of genres the students have.

Bookroom Explosion
Our bookroom and the classroom libraries are expanding due to the focus on readers' workshop as our guide for the reading curriculum. Under the guidance of our literacy coaches, the teachers have been building their libraries to offer choices to children to read in non-fiction, fiction, etc., depending on the lessons being taught in class. To learn more, see your teacher's newsletter or website, or stop by for a visit and I will be happy to give you some background.

1st Semester coming to an end soon
Please take a peek at the school calendar to see that we have the 22nd of January around the corner. This date designates the final day of the second quarter and the close of the first semester. Report cards will be ready during the next week. Let's finish this stretch with our best effort. Thanks!
