Panther In Need
There really aren't words to describe what she and the rest of her family must be going through. Of course, her Jackson Park family will be here for her for whatever she and her family needs.
Welcome Back!
I stayed off my computer almost the entire break, except for a chunk of time on Monday and Friday. And I rediscovered that family is quite awesome, as we roamed the Florida Coast for a few days near where my parents live and then spent a day and a half in Atlanta and at the Georgia Aquarium.
We're about to hit the final stretch here at Jackson Park, which is a time of the year that hits hard and moves fast. It's also (another) crucial stretch in terms of student achievement, in so many ways. The time I spent on Monday and Friday were devoted to continuing to get ready for that, and I'll continue to communicate and faciliate all that here as well. Not too much to overwhelm, but enough to feel, and be, ready.
Leadership
I believe August has already communicated this to our Leadership Team; they will meet on Monday during lunch for a working lunch. Lunch, from the Corner Crust, will be provided for Leadership Team members. If you have any concerns or items for our Leadership Team to address, please send them August's way. In addition, I'll be sharing the results of the Staff Survey KCS conducted, with some protocols to break down the survey data.
EVAAS
In addition, this week I'll be joining each grade level to lead a conversation about the EVAAS breakdown, including what it is and how we want to distribute responsibility for all of our students. The goal is for each team to make decisions on how we allocate EVAAS instructional responsibility, and for you to completely understand and have a hand in what is happening.
So, if and when you get an email, just chill. I'll be in PLC's this week.
Field Trips
Additionally, please don't forget that there will be some changes to the lunch schedule this Thursday to accommodate for the Kindergarten and 1st Grade Cabarrus Arts Trip. There is a tab with that days schedule on the Panthers Den.
1st Grade - Letterland
I put together a tentative schedule to check out, and I'll be running it by Jodi and the grade levels affected tomorrow (Monday) to make sure it's ok and works for everyone. Even though it's not final yet, I wanted to just give everyone a heads up of what will be coming on April 28th.
And don't forget, Mrs. Woodard's class will go on field trips with both 1st and 2nd Grade.
Other Nuts and Bolts
Nicky Folders (Red Folders) - It's time to place our order for next year; please let me know if your grade level would like to use them next year.
April Global Spirit Day - Our upcoming Spirit Day centered on the Global Competency of "Understanding Global Issues", is on April 21st, the day before Earth Day. Earth Day provides a near limitless amount of ideas for your class to focus on for that day. Much like we did for last year's "Global Youth Service Day", it would be great for each class to identify what their particular are of focus would be, and possibly incorporate these into writing, reading, science, or beyond.
To keep us organized, and also informed on what each class will be focusing on, please complete this Google Document with a brief synopsis of what you're class will be doing.
