Limelight Theatre Attends 2020 State Thespian Conference
Recently 36 members of Francis Howell High School’s Thespian Troupe 1917 attended the 2019 Missouri State Thespian Conference. The conference was held January 9 – 11 at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri.
At the conference attendees participated in workshops on topics such as directing, acting or playwriting, costumes, makeup and props. Participants also enjoyed one-acts and a full stage production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
What did our participants think of this great opportunity?
Elexa Stewart said that she “really enjoyed the special effects workshop. It really just everyone ot plan and simple, from which “blood” didn’t stair to what kind of product to use (latex, wax or gelatin). To be completely honest, it was very entertaining to see everything be created in front of your eyes and end up being so realistic. It almost made you sick to look at it.”
Sophie Gruener said that she “found the dance workshops to be my favorite. It was a lot of fun to recreate dances from well known musicals with other people who shared similar enthuriasm. As well, the costumes workshops were really beneficial in seeing how to improve for future shows and particular methods to go about them.
Luke Alexander also enjoyed the dance workshops and stated that they were “fun with friends and let out some built up energy to fun Broadway choreography. I also enjoyed the improv game workshops where you not only participate in unique games but also viewed other scenes unfold and observe their methods for future reference.”
Katelyn Traluch also has positive things to say about the dance workshops. She stated that the workshops “were extremely fun and got you moving, but you were also engaged in what was happening, learning so much in such a short amount of time. Whether you were a dancer or came to just have some fun, everyone had huge smiles at the end of the class and the best memories of learning the dance along with your friends.”
Congratulations to the following students that attended the conference to contoinue to grow their skills! Jacob Abernathy, Mallory Abshear, Luke Alexander, Tishitha Avvaru, Colewyn Bahm, Aryn Barlow, Isabella Bartner, Santino Bono, Anna Burk, Luke Castelein, Courtney Crow, Kayla Elmore, Jaleacia Evans, Sam Figgins, Sophie Gruener, Kyleigh Holman, Blake Jenkins, Samantha King, Camille Lechner, Kennedy Lindauer, Izzy Luca, Elise Martinez, Cecilia Merlone, Lily Moore, Christopher Mosher, Morgan Osman, Lars Remund, Jakob Ringwald, Jamie Saylor, Elexa Stewart, Samantha Temper, Allie Thornton, Katie Thuet, Cooper Traluch, Katelyn Traluch, Isadora Vaccaro, and Martín Villaseca.
