Traffic Pattern Change Meeting and PTA Meeting - April 16th at 6:00
Thank you for the help and support you have shown this year as we’ve worked to improve the traffic flow during student drop off and pick up.
Recently, I have met with the City of Weatherford, the Weatherford Police Department, the Weatherford Fire Department, and Weatherford ISD’s Director of Safety and Security to assess recommendations and consider any changes because the intersection at Russell and Lamar is blocked by vehicles awaiting to turn left into the front driveway during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. In addition to causing pass through traffic delays, the traffic congestion at our campus creates a barrier preventing emergency response vehicles to pass through safely. Because Curtis is geographically located in between two additional campuses (Hall Middle School and the Ninth Grade Center), route changes are not viable options for first responders.
On April 23, 2019 through the end of the school year, we will pilot a new traffic pattern for Curtis Elementary. The changes will be presented before the general PTA meeting to be held on April 16, 2019 at 6:00 pm in the Curtis cafeteria. Following that meeting, we will provide a link to a video presentation that will be made available to all parents.
