TEACHER FEATURE
Mrs. Wallace
Today’s teacher feature is Mrs. Wallace. She teaches Business Finance courses, and she has been in education for 12 years. She is most passionate about building relationships. She believes that students need someone they can trust that will give them good advice about anything life throws at them. Marcia Day inspired her the most. She was her accounting teacher 9th grade year, and from that year forward, she found classes to take that she taught. She always had the best interests of her students in mind. She was kind, caring, encouraging, intelligent, and just an amazing person. 19 years later she is still one of her biggest supporters, and she is so lucky that she got to be one of her students. Mrs. Wallace hopes that she can enrich some of her students’ lives the way Marcia Day has done for her. She has two children: Madisyn, who is 12 and D’Undre, who is one. She is a graduate of Calhoun Community College with an Associate’s Degree in both Accounting and Business, Athens State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, and Walden University with a Master’s Degree in Instructional Design and Technology. In high school, she was involved in JROTC, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and FBLA. Her favorite class was accounting. When she was in high school, she decided to be an accountant, but in her senior year of college, she realized she might have wanted to teach accounting. She believes it all worked out because she is now living out her dreams as a finance teacher! She loves her job, and she really enjoys working with teenagers!

AHSAA “BYLAW OF THE WEEK”
To be proactive to help prevent you violating any AHSAA bylaws, we are sending this memo to remind you all of the Off-Season Practice rules.
According to Rule 3, Section 15 Coaching Outside School Year, “No administrator, coach or non-faculty coach from a school’s staff of the same sport may hold organized practice (except during allowable period) or competition for its school or its feeder school players (students 7-12) in that sport outside the sports season during the school year. Members of a school coaching staff are not allowed to coach girls or boys’ players from his/her school sports teams during the off-season during the school year except for the allowable period as described below.”
“AHSAA certified coaches from the school’s staff may hold organized instruction outside of the sports season during the school year in groups not to exceed 50% of the players required to play the game (AHSAA Section 6 Part B) for a maximum of 2 hours per week per athlete.”
Note: No more than 1 coach per sport at a time, per school to work with no more than 50% of a team, two-hours per week. No student is allowed to work more than 2 hours per day. No two
coaches may work at the same time.
Note: A coach cannot work with an in-season athlete for an out-of-season sport.
Based on the AHSAA Bylaws, coaches may work with their athletes outside the sport season under the conditions above. Things to remember:
- ONLY 1 COACH IS ALLOWED TO WORK WITH 3 PLAYERS AT A TIME. YOU CAN NOT HAVE 1 COACH IN ONE GYM WITH 3 AND ANOTHER COACH IN ANOTHER GYM WITH 3.
- YOU CAN NOT WORK WITH 3 PLAYERS ON ONE END, WHILE THE REST OF THE TEAM PLAYS ON THE OTHER END DURING AN ATHLETIC PERIOD. IF INSTRUCTION IS BEING GIVEN ONLY PLAYERS MAY BE IN THE GYM WITH THE COACH DURING THAT TIME.
- THE BYLAW USES THE WORD “SPORT” NOT “TEAM”. YOU CAN NOT HAVE 1 COACH WITH 3 VARSITY PLAYERS, 1 COACH WITH 3 JV PLAYERS AND 1 COACH WITH 3 9TH GRADE PLAYERS. #1 ABOVE COVERS THIS
- WEIGHT TRAINING AND CONDITIONING CAN OCCUR WITH THE WHOLE TEAM PRESENT. THERE ARE NO LIMITS, IN TERMS OF NUMBERS OF PLAYERS, WITH WEIGHTS & CONDITIONING.
