CATCHING THEM IN THE ACT

A CONSERVATORY PREP NEWS LETTER

Week of February 8- 12, 2016

Monday, February 15th is Presidents' Day and as a reminder, school will be closed.

Every morning we start our day with mindfulness meditation and exercises to relieve morning stress and anxiety and begin class centered and ready to learn. Apparently, this idea has caught on in other schools around the country. I encourage you to read the article Calming the Teenage Mind in the Classroom.

On Friday, February 19th we will be going to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in the morning to see Shakespeare Improvised. After the show, we will partake in an improv class led by the actors in the show.

HAPPENINGS OF THIS WEEK

Shadow Puppetry

Puppeteer Ronni Gerstel visited CPS to give a lesson in the art of authentic Chinese puppet-making. The studt of the history of Chinese puppetry and the folk-stories puppeteers told through their art, form an integral part of the middle-school's unit on ancient China. The students will work on presenting a story and puppet-show of their own.
