Florida’s state test requires our students to be tested three times throughout the year.

The first FAST test is taking place at Odyssey next week on Tuesday, August 29th, and Thursday, August 31st. Your student has a letter that was sent home with them explaining the FAST test and how to access resources.

It is imperative that your student be here and on time to school on both dates of testing August 29th and August 31st.

Hurricane season runs through Nov. 30, 2023, and the state of Florida is offering its second Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday, Aug. 26 – Sept. 8, 2023. During that period, you can stock up on qualifying disaster preparedness supplies exempt from sales tax. For a list of items, click here.

As a reminder, there are prioritized severe weather (hurricane) days listed on our 2023-24 school calendar.

Also, there is a resource assistance platform for families in need, it is called OCPS Community Connect. The free resources are in areas such as mental health, tutoring, housing, meals, and much more.

We are currently at 93 PTSA members, we are 107 PTSA members away from our goal of 200 members! We ask all families to please purchase a PTSA membership, for $10 you will be a PTSA member for the 2023-2024 school year with no obligations.

You should join our PTSA because your membership can help you build a village to support your child and connect you locally and to a nationwide network that supports all children. When you belong to our PTSA, you will be connected to important school and community resources. Will you support our efforts by becoming a member?

September Membership Goal: If we have the entire ODMS staff sign up to be a PTSA member, PTSA will have a surprise for both the staff and students! Want to sponsor a teacher or staff member? Feel free to purchase a membership for them, all you have to do is under “Student name,” enter the name of the staff member you would like to sponsor. Dragons, you have until Open House to get all the staff signed up as PTSA members.
