The MJT Weekly
September 15, 2023
This has been an incredible first full week here at MJT! I want to extend a huge thank you to all of you and to our faculty and staff for your enthusiasm towards our students and school, as well as for your patience while we get the year started up. The students have adjusted so nicely, and classrooms are up and running. It's wonderful to see so many new faces, and to see how much everyone has grown this summer. We had our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) kick off event on Monday! Students rotated around with their class to different places around the school where staff modeled what positive behavior looks like in those areas (hallways, playground, cafeteria, buses, bathrooms, etc). The other half of the day was filled with fun events hosted by staff and PTO volunteers including scooter races, games, ice pops, face painting and more! We also had a therapeutic dog come and visit several classrooms. She will be joining us quite a bit here at MJT!
We have a few upcoming events to keep in mind:
-Open House: Thursday September 21 from 6:00-7:00. Please come and see your child's classroom, see some of the beautiful work they've done, learn about the PTO, and get acclimated with our school. We hope to see you all there!
-Students have begun their iReady testing (or will begin next week). These are computer based diagnostic assessments for ELA and math that establish a baseline for students, and provide instruction opportunities based on that. We encourage our students to try their best in order to gain the most accurate information.
*Toys at school- Pokemon cards, as well as other toys, should not be brought to school. This often leads to peer to peer conflict, lost or damaged toys, and distractions. Thank you!

Upcoming Events and Reminders
Transportation Reminders:
- Earlier this week a robo call went home to all families to let them know that all transportation changes MUST be submitted to the main office at each school no later than 11:00. It is very difficult to make changes after that, as we want to ensure that all dismissal lists are updated in a timely manner. Please do not arrive in the pick up line if you have not notified the main office (or provided a note to their teacher). Please avoid emailing the teachers because they may not get a chance to see it before dismissal.
- When in the drop off loop, please have your child unbuckled and ready to exit the vehicle as quickly as possible.
- If your student is able to buckle themselves, the adult should remain in the car. Staff will help open and close the doors.
- Thank you for helping to ensure that this process runs as efficiently and safely as possible.
