Distance Learning: New Learning Modules
Students needing paper packets:
-Packets will be available for you to pick up on Thursday, April 16th. Please call the school prior to arrival so we can have your packet prepared and waiting for you out front.
-There will be several weeks worth of work in the first packet. It can be returned the week of May 4-8. At that point, you will also be able to pick up the remainder of the new work for the rest of the year. That can be returned the week of May 25-29. (Specific days and times will be announced closer to the due dates.)
-If you have any make-up or review work to turn in, please place that in the plastic bin that we will have on the front porch on the 16th.
-Please place the work that you are returning in a plastic bag with the student's name on the bag. If you do not have a bag, please have the material in a folder, paper-clipped together, or some other means of keeping the materials secured (again, with the student's name clearly labeled).
Grading:
Students' grades from the 3rd 9-weeks will carry over throughout the entire second semester. Students will have the opportunity to raise that grade by turning in late/missing work without penalty and completing the new learning modules for extra credit. In essence, the student's grade as of March 13th can only be improved upon for the second semester. There will not be a 9-weeks report card sent home. Please make sure you are checking your student's PowerSchool account.
Please feel free to call the school between 8 am and 4 pm with any questions.

A Message From Our Counselors
Many of us are grieving the loss of how life was prior to the outbreak of COVID-19. While we all had aches and groans about our days, it’s very hard when our daily routines, activities, and habits are suddenly gone. Now that we are learning from home for the rest of the year, you may find that you miss school or many other things. For instance, if waking up in the morning was hard, and you found that you started most days by choosing to hit the “snooze button” and go back to sleep, you may find you miss having to get up early every morning. We, as a community and country, are experiencing a loss together. Feeling anger, sadness, nervousness or any combination of these feelings is a normal response to loss. It’s important that as individuals, and a community, to hold onto hope. Hope is remembering our strengths, our ideals, and the belief that we can change things for the better. A quote from Thich Nhat Hanh describes the importance of hope well, “Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.”
This week try to remember your strengths and think about what hope means to you. Attached are some activities that students and their families can do surrounding hope. In the Strengths Tree activity, write characteristics, people, activities and other parts of your life that help you find strength in each leaf. In the Values Clarification activity, follow the included directions to re-connect with what is important to you.
