Iditarod
Many of the mushers have finished the race. There are about 15 more than need to finish! What a race it was this year! The children enjoyed following their musher and keeping up with the current events of Alaska.
Book Fair
We enjoyed making our wish list when we visited the book fair. Many of us went back the next day to purchase some of the items we wished for.
Buddies
Playing the dot game is always fun but it is even more exciting with a twist! If you boxed in a clover, you got 5 extra points. If you boxed in a leprechaun, you lost 5 points!
Table names
We used a strategy called spend a buck to decide what to call our tables. We do this about every 4 weeks so we can sit by new people and mix things up a bit. Everyone at the table had to come up with a name that they would like the table to be called. Then they each had 10 spend a bucks to put down on the name that they liked after hearing from each person why they should vote for their name.
Writing
Expressing our opinions is our next unit of writing. We started off by picking one of the stuffed animal dogs that were in the room and writing the reasons why we think that dog is the best. We will become experts at arguing our points in a respectful way.
Lucky writing
We can't end the week without a little leprechaun writing! We wrote about when we feel lucky-I always feel lucky when I find money in my pockets! Many students wrote that they feel lucky when they can play video games or eat candy!
5k Race-UPDATE
I did in fact finish the race--not first place but more importantly not last place! Overall, I was 1,639 out of 2,055. For females, I was 916th out of 1, 230. Will I do it again? Maybe when by legs stop feeling like rubber!!!!!!
