DHS Weekly Update
Thursday, September 29, 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
DHS Families,
There has been a lot of communication this week about a variety of activities. I apologize for the barrage of emails but I wanted to make sure that everyone had the most updated information regarding this week's events in a timely manner.
We have reached our goal of 45 chaperone's for Saturday's dance so 250 tickets will be released at 4:00 PM today via gofan.co. Thank you all for your support and I look forward to seeing you tonight at the game, tomorrow at the parade, and Saturday at the dance.
Because of these changes, my Town Hall Webinar is now going to be Oct. 6th at 7:00 PM. The info for the event remains the same and can be found HERE. Mr. Hatfield did a great video explaining the new grading portal. I sent that in a separate email on Tuesday but here it is again - CLICK HERE.
For 11th and 12th graders, I will be sending out information about class dues next week. The info can already be found HERE. Ms. Foy will push out the packages to Infinite Campus in two weeks. Remember, one package INCLUDES a prom ticket and one does not. You only need to purchase one. If you need financial assistance or a payment plan, just email me and we'll get it worked out.
It is a pleasure to serve the DHS community!
Rochelle L. Lofstrand, Principal
Decatur High School

Hispanic Heritage Month
We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. The observation began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. The theme for 2022 is "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation ."
More information about this month is available on our Equity website.
Gifted Review
Each fall semester the gifted review team looks at existing student data to discuss students’ needs and determine if further evaluation for gifted identification is needed. If you are interested in having the team discuss your child’s needs, you may complete a Recommendation for Review Form and turn it in to the Gifted Specialist, Ms. Gonzalez, before October 5th. No additional information is needed. For more detailed information about the review process and to obtain a copy of the Recommendation for Review Form, please contact Jennifer Gonzalez or visit the following website: https://www.csdecatur.net/Page/581.
