Parent Survey

You will receive the parent survey in your box on January 19th. Surveys must go home this day.The survey window closes on February 2, 2016. In addition to the hard copy that is going home, we will be posting a link on the web site, Facebook, and remind. If/when hard copy surveys come back please send them to the office. We will also have a box by the front office if parents would like to remain anonymous when turning in a survey.

Mandatory (State Required) Compliance Training

We have two mandatory compliance trainings to do by the end of the month. The topics are suicide prevention and dating violence. These are coming out of the most recent legislation from the state. I will enroll you in eduphoria. You need to complete the following steps to receive credit.

1. Log in to HEB Curriculum

2. Click on Trainings

3. Go to Fall Compliance training

4. The Enrollment Key is heb123

5. Complete the trainings and test

6. Print your certificate

7. Turn your certificate in to Laurie Moss and sign the PD sign in sheet

You may do this on your own time, but it has to be completed by January 29th.

Web Site Checks

Our Web Pages are often the first impression that people have of our school. Your classroom web page is a great tool for communication with parents and students. It is a window into our school where we can easily share links to web sites, important documents announcements and pictures. Please check that the information on your web page is current and gives our stakeholders a glimpse of the outstanding experiences you have worked so hard to provide for students every day.

What do I do if I want/need to order something through the school?

1. Check that the vendor is district approved.

2. Get a quote for the items.

3. Email Beth a description of the order, at least 7 days prior to the date the order needs to be made, including purpose and item numbers if applicable.

4. Beth will approve or deny based on budget etc. and CC Laurie Moss on the approval.

5. Laurie Moss will request the purchase order from accounting then submit the order.

This process is mandatory for purchases made by the school. Failure to follow this process, in order, may result in the person requesting items being responsible for the cost of the items. If PTA is purchasing the items, approval through Beth's office is still required. If it is curriculum money the team needs to be in agreement on the purchase.

Student Transfers

If you would like to transfer your student within the district, the transfer window begins January 4, 2016 and ends February 29, 2016.

For more information, read the Transfer Q&A for the 2016-17 School Year

We have been working to replace printers over the last two school years. I think both labs are doing good with that. Please refrain from using the office color printer unless you have checked with us in the office. The ink is expensive so we try to stretch it. If you are having trouble with your printer, please use HHE help to report the problem so we can keep on top of the maintenance.

Grades Due

Tracy will run reports on Monday, January 18th so grades need to be in by 8:00 that morning. Report Cards will go home on Thursday January 21st. Please let Tracy know if you have any questions.

Tech Tip

The new link to get to TAC from home is http://www2.hebisd.edu/waplinks.

Choose Teacher Access Center.

You will enter your HEB username and password (just as you do for TAC at school).

After that authenticates, you will be asked to login to your TAC account again.

If you have not updated your link for TAC from home, please do so. Also, if you have issues with logging into TAC from home, please address those issues to your campus help account and give as much detail as possible.

Yearbook Pictures Needed!

Please submit all pictures you have so far this year for the yearbook. Liz Moore will be laying out all pictures for the first part of the school year over the break. She would like anything you have up to Thanksgiving by Monday, November 23 and December's photos before you leave on the 18th please! I have created a 2015-16 Yearbook Photos folder in share drive. I also have a flash drive that you can borrow from my office if that is easier, but I need that back at the end of your planning period. Please label the folder with the grade level and event for each set of pictures. I know there are lots of great pictures out there so let's get those in to Mrs. Moore!

Homework Helpers

Please remember to send home permission forms for Homework Helpers with students who would like to stay or those you think need to stay for various reasons. They are located in the workroom on the big table.

We are in need of volunteers for upper grades...so if you have not signed up (even for just one or two slots this year) please be a fabulous falcon, and help us out.:)

Walking the Walls of a Classroom

Please check the CI Classroom Rubric and monitor where you rate on implementation. Remember, this year the rubric will impact PDAS evaluations. Two things that should be evident on PDSA walls are updated plans and aligned data.

Posting your learning objectives is a district requirement. These objectives may not change every day, but should always align to what Student Expectation (SE) is the main focus of your lesson. This sets a clear purpose for learning so students know what they can do by the end of the lesson.

Big image
Thank you so much to the following people who helped make Science Night a success!

Valerie Turney, David Rawls, Judy Willis, Dee Hunt, Karen Ahaus, Karenia Holloway, Julie Miller, Holly Riggs, Paula Anderson, Erica White, Terrilin Holz, Delana Clark, Elizabeth Toepfer, Stephanie Stevenson, Ginger Bihm, and Pam Bural!

Thank you to Valerie Sellers for a fabulous choir concert after the January 14th PTA meeting!

Mr. Rawls, we all appreciate you volunteering to be the alternate on the PTA Nominating Committee!

You Matter forms are in the teacher workroom. Recognize your peers on the wall in the lounge!

I know that you all observe staff members going above and beyond on a daily basis to support students, fellow staff members, and the overall success of Hurst Hills. Please send in Kudos as you see them so that staff can be recognized for the things they do from day to day that make a difference. I would also love to share personal celebrations! Email your recognitions to Beth by Friday to be added to the weekly notes! If Beth uses your submission or you are the subject of a celebration, stop by the office for a special treat!
