2. Telephone Tag
It's been a real gift to me to talk to folks that I don't normally encounter especially when I'm missing you folks and the young people so much. The response to these calls has been wonderful too. Everyone seems to love that we're checking in and staying connected. *if you didn't get a call it may be that your number has changed since you registered with the parish. You can email cstpiusx@dor.org if you would like to update your info.
Since the adult parishioners liked it so much starting next week I'm going to be calling each of our young people in our parish. I know this newsletter goes mostly to parents so I wanted to give you a heads up.
I'll be checking in on how they're doing with keeping active, doing schoolwork and asking them the THREE THINGS from Fr Pompei. Fr Pompei asked us 1) what can we give THANKS to Jesus for? and 2) what do they NEED from Jesus? and 3) How do they EXPERIENCE Jesus each day? Around SPX we call this the TNE prayer. Our younger grades started to incorporate it into their classes in the Fall semester.
I'll also be asking for their ideas on how we can keep moving forward as a faith community during this challenging time in our parish story. If you can talk to them about this it might help to get them thinking a little bit ahead of time.
3. Are you Praying for St Pius X Parish? - Special Request from Sr Jean Catherine
From Sr Jean Catherine:
We are challenged now to overcome a lot but we are uniquely equipped to do this!
Look at all we’ve overcome as a faith community!
The divisions in the parish, the fire, the rebuilding! We’ve got this!
Sr Jean has a very special request. As a concrete sign of solidarity we are asking you to pray passionately for St Pius X Church Community. If you’d agree to do this you are invited to send us a photo of you or your family, any size, snapshot or formal portrait and Sr Jean will put them on posters and display them in the Church.
You can email the photo to me barb.legere@dor.org or to Sr Jean jcwelch@ssjrochester.org or drop them into a box in the narthex.
Church is open daily from 7:30 to 4:00 pm. We hope to have this completed by April 29th so please get your photos in right away.
5. FREE E-BOOK - How to Talk to Children & Teens about COVID19
The Diocese of Rochester, Office of Evangelization and Catechesis has purchased ecopies of the book attached below for any parish that requested it.
It’s a faith-based response to Covid-19 and has practical applications for parents of all-age children.
I'm sure that some parts of it are familiar to you by now but the twist is on the pieces about "where is God in this?" that makes it useful.
You are welcome to share this resource with family & friends.
