SUMMER INTERNS
Miranda Mueller
My name is Miranda Mueller, and I am from Yutan, Nebraska. Throughout my years in 4-H I was actively involved in the Saunders County program showing rabbits, sheep, pigs, and participating in static projects including quilting, sewing, and photography. I was also a member of the Saunders County 4-H Council my final years in the program.
I am going to be a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall where I am majoring in Animal Science and Grazing Livestock Systems, and minoring in Nebraska Beef Industry Scholars and the Engler Entrepreneurship Program. I am also involved in the UNL FFA Alumni, Block and Bridle, and the Grazing Livestock Systems Club at the University. I am looking forward to a great summer full of youth workshops and preparing for this year’s county fair!
Shelby Wachter
Hello! My name is Shelby Wachter and I am ecstatic to be interning with Saunders County 4-H this summer! I was born and raised in Blair Nebraska where I grew up on a small acreage outside of town. My dad was in 4-H so when I aged into the organization he signed me up and I am forever grateful he did.
It was then that my true passion for agriculture and livestock flourished. I originally started showing cattle but thanks to some good family friends my second year of 4-H we bought a few lambs and I fell in love. Through all my years in 4-H I showed cattle, pigs and even chickens for a few years but the species that I really connected with and stuck with was sheep. Within a few years my family really developed a passion for showing lambs and we slowly started to compete more and travel to more shows and sales.
Now I am currently a student at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and in the fall I will be a junior, majoring in Agricultural Education with the goal of being a high school Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor. My family now has a started to raise show lambs. I still show in FFA currently and I am dreading the day I am no longer allowed in the show ring. But I hope to stay involved with the industry through my younger brother showing and one day with the hope of having my own herd of show ewes.
With my passion for livestock and knowledge of the industry I am very excited to help with the Saunders County Fair and preparation for the Nebraska State Fair. I hope to get to know as many of the 4-Her’s and 4-H families as I can in my time here!

2019 Silent Auction “Keep Saunders County Rolling” will be the slogan for this year’s silent auction. o Cole will direct 4-H clubs (via email) to construct a project that somehow uses wheels of some sort or something that puts things into motion or that has been used to keep things in motion (ie: fiber optics, wagon wheels, tires, etc). The auction items will be on display and up for bidding during the fair.
o A “Buy Now” option price will be set upon the 4-H Club’s suggestion. Bidding will continue on items that haven’t been purchased through the “Buy Now” option and will be finalized through a Live Auction Sunday evening prior to the Livestock Auction
