GHS HOSA Hosts 6th Annual Special Needs Trunk or Treat
The GHS clubs/groups that helped HOSA conduct this event included: Art Club, STARS, Cross Country, Student Council, Baseball, DECA, JROTC, National Honor Society, Key Club, FCCLA, FFA, and Yearbook.
Community members that helped included: 94FM the Fish, the Tennesseean, Brookdale, SCBOE Vision Specialist Amy Covington, VSCC Skills USA Club, Gallatin Fire Department, Gallatin Police Department, EMA. SWAT, and EMS with Andy the Talking Ambulance.
In all, 71 kids attended from 16 Sumner County Schools.
HHS Health Science Students Visit Welch College
Members of the HHS Health Science program attended the 2nd annual Nursing Career Day at Welch College on October 16, 2019. The students were able to listen to presentations from Susan Peach, CEO of Highpoint Health Systems, Dr. Allison Davis, Undergraduate Nursing at Union University, and Dr. Ian Hawkins, Arts and Sciences at Welch College. The speakers answered questions and interacted with the future nurses. The students were also treated to lunch and a tour of Welch College.
HHS HOSA
On October 14, Addie Carrigan and her mother, Mary Lee Carrigan, spoke to HHS HOSA members at the October HOSA Chapter Meeting in honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Addie is a student at HHS and her mother is a school nurse in Sumner County. Addie told the HOSA members about herself and made sure that they knew that she loves country music, especially Luke Bryan. HOSA members participated in the Buddy Walk on Nov 2 at the Hermitage to support families and their loved ones with Down Syndrome.
HHS HOSA raised money by selling bracelets to support Down Syndrome Awareness for Middle TN and attended the DSAMT Walk. They walked with Emily Ross, Mrs Vincent's niece, and her family. The HHS HOSA members that were present were Lindsey Glowacki, Tracy Dove (HHS staff), Jood Abueida, Mrs Vincent (HOSA Advisor) with Emily, Adam Traini (Beech FFA), Gracen Boekholder, Ms MacFarland (HOSA Advisor), and Elizabeth Thomas.
HHS HOSA Donates to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital
From October 14th-18th, Hendersonville High School HOSA organized a schoolwide Coloring Book and Crayon Drive where 1,353 items were collected and donated to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt! This is the second year to have this donation drive, with last year totaling 550 donations.

Students also participated in a skills lab where they wore googles that simulated various levels of intoxication. They administered the SFST on one another and participated in other activities to simulate reaction time and peripheral vision when impaired

Westmoreland FFA Fall Activities
Each year around Halloween, Westmoreland FFA has its Annual Pumpkin Patch for Westmoreland Elementary School's Kindergarten, First, and Second graders. About 175 students attended this year and enjoyed three reading stations, a petting zoo, hay ride, mummy wrapping station, and snack area. 42 FFA members and Ag students helped run the festivities for the young students and did an outstanding job!
