COVID Update
All decisions regarding the current COVID mitigation and safety protocols were made with the support of Father Brownholtz after lengthy discussions this past weekend. The health and safety of the 300 students in our school is our utmost priority and we will continue to do what we feel is best for them.
Parent Communication from 1/2/22
As we are sure you are aware there has been a significant increase in positive COVID cases, especially involving children across the region. The same is true for our school community. The Archdiocese has recommended that we open school on Tuesday as planned but with increased mitigation measures in place. Everyone can agree that in person learning is best for all students and we will do everything in our power to ensure St. Ignatius remains open for our students. This can not be done without the support of the entire school community, so as we move forward, we thank you in advance for your cooperation with these mitigation measures and hopefully, soon, they will not be needed.
COVID Mitigation until further notice:
All large gatherings will be canceled or postponed through January.
Desks will be put into rows with 3 feet spacing in all classrooms.
Extra tables will be added to rooms with table seating to accommodate the spacing
No school Masses or assemblies
No visitors are permitted in the school
The cafeteria is closed through January 31, 2022
No playground use for any students (recess will remain, unmasked with equipment)
Art class will be moved to the gym
PE class will consist of NO CONTACT SPORTS and masked at all times
Music will be in the classrooms for grades Pre-K to 4 and in the Gym for Grade 5
Spanish will remain in the classroom
STEM will remain in the STEM lab.
Please note:
All after school activities sponsored by the school will continue but there will be masking, increased mitigation, and all events will be held socially distant.
CARES will increase their mitigation policies and strict social distancing will be enforced.
Masking:
As per the directives of the Office of Catholic Education, masks will continue to be worn until the level of transmission in Bucks Country is sustained for two weeks at the low- to moderately low level.
Quarantining and Contact Tracing:
There have been changes in the CDC guidance in regards to quarantining and testing.
The 5 Day quarantine begins on the day of the COVID test or the day symptoms begin. Students may return to school on Day 6 if they do not have symptoms. A negative test result is no longer required to return to school after the quarantine period is complete.
We will no longer be contact tracing and quarantining contacts in school. Individual classrooms will be notified if there is a positive case in that cohort.
Return to School January 4th, 2022
Who should NOT return to school on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022?
Individuals who:
are symptomatic on January 4th
are awaiting results from a COVID- 19 Test
tested positive for COVID-19 on or since December 30th, 2021
Health Checks:
Please do a temperature check and health screening of your child BEFORE coming to school each day. Any student who exhibits any symptom in school will be sent home and will require a 5 day quarantine with recommended testing.
Temperature checks will be performed each morning and afternoon in Pre-School, Kindergarten, and Grade 1.
It is imperative that the school is informed of any positive test results, symptoms, or testing.
Virtual Learning:
We are prepared to switch to full remote learning with direct instruction within a 24 hour period. School wide zoom accounts have once again been purchased and the equipment will be set up in the rooms by the end of the week. We will only go virtual if the number of positive cases in the student body reaches 25% of the total student population OR if we are unable to open due to staffing shortages brought on by COVID positivity rates among the faculty and staff. A state, county, or federal mandate to close schools supersedes all other reasons.
School Closure:
Currently the Pre-School is closed through January 7th due to staffing issues brought on by COVID positivity rates and quarantine protocols.
As stated above, school closure is based on the number of cases in the school at one given time or the ability to operate safely with the appropriate number of staff. If we have to close we will not have to make up the days since we will be instructing virtually for Grades K to 8.
We thank you for your trust and cooperation as we continue to face the challenges of COVID together.
