Gathering Feedback

In November of 2022, we asked families to complete a survey. We had over 100 responses to this survey, which helped us better support students and families. This week, we ask again that families complete the same survey. (listed and linked below) We are interested in your feedback on how we can make King a place where all students and families feel that they belong.

Students in grades 3-5 will be asked to complete a similar survey this week as well.

Thank you for your support.

Freedom Starts Now Club

We are excited to announce that the student-led club, Freedom Starts Now (FSN) is returning to King Elementary School this March. The after school club is an opportunity for students to work together to learn about social and environmental justice issues that impact our world today. Some of the topics that students will discuss are; Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ+, supporting people with disabilities and mental health issues.

The club is open to students in grades 3-5 and will meet on Wednesdays from 3:50 pm - 4:50 pm at the school with Ms. Maxwell, the club advisor. Each week, students will learn about and discuss an important topic and then participate in a related activity.

The first after school meeting will be on Wednesday, March 1st from 3:50 pm - 4:50 pm. Families should make alternative transportation arrangements on Wednesday afternoons. If transportation is a challenge, please let us know.

Permission slips will go home for students who are interested in signing up. If you have additional questions about the club, please contact Ms. Maxwell via email.

Thank you,

Ms. Maxwell

Allergy Friendly Classrooms

  • We ask that snacks (that are often eaten in the classroom) do not include nuts or nut butters. All classroom spaces at King this year will be allergy friendly rooms. Students are, however, allowed to have nuts and nut butters as part of their lunches in the cafeteria.
  • In the cafeteria each classroom has 2 tables. One is labeled allergy friendly. We ask that any students that have nut or nut butter allergies sit at these tables; we ask that any students who have nut or nut butters as part of their lunch sit at the other tables.
  • Students have been introduced to this in the cafeteria already, and will be reminded by their classroom teachers again.
