HOPEFUL HAPPENINGS
Kids at Hope at Christensen
I am a Kid at Hope!
I am talented, smart, and capable of success.
I have dreams for the future,
and I will climb to reach those goals and dreams every day.
All kids are capable of success,
NO EXCEPTIONS!
Welcome Back!
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! It is an amazing feeling to be back at school, in person, with our Kids at Hope community. In a time that continues to present unique challenges and worries, what a great fortune to be in a place that feels safe, connected, supportive, and hopeful!
Hope is not just a wish. Hope is a good feeling met with inspired action. When we hope, we believe that we deserve good things and that we have the strength and courage within ourselves to achieve good things. When we hope, we look to those who care about us, who want the best for us, for guidance and support. When we hope, we always look ahead to what could be and make choices now that will get us there. Hope is lived and practiced!
As we begin this new school year, take a moment to reflect on this question: How will I live and practice hope every day?
Wishing our Kids at Hope community joy, good health, and lots to celebrate this year!

Hope Focus: Get Your Hopes Up!
SEPTEMBER: Goal Setting
"Your goals are the road maps that guide you and show you what is possible for your life."
~ Les Brown
A new beginning brings new opportunities to learn and grow. When something is new and unfamiliar, it can feel impossible and overwhelm you to the point of wanting to give up. But, Kids at Hope know better! They know that with time and practice, what's unfamiliar will become familiar and what was once thought impossible becomes possible. Something that helps that change happen is setting goals.
When you set goals for yourself, you make a commitment to grow, knowing that you'll be challenged. Having a goal keeps you moving forward, especially when it's hard. It keeps you focused on making choices that will get you what you want, building your perseverance and strengthening your confidence. Goals empower you to make your life what you want it to be. When you have a goal, you have hope!
What goals will you set for yourself this week? This month? This year?

CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH
September: Courage
Have you shown courage by:
- standing up for what is right, even if you're standing alone?
- trying something new?
- trying something again if you make a mistake or fail at it?
- asking for help when you need it?
- befriending a classmate new to the school or one who never seems to have a friend?
