First Grade News
Week of September 22 - 26
Reading
We will be completing Unit 2 this week. We will begin the assessment for Unit 1 and 2 on Thursday. This is an overall assessment to see how well the students learned the objectives for the first two units. We will have these at the end of every two units. There is a short story in the homework packet to read over with your child. They did very good on this past weeks story.
AR is going along good. The students are getting close to their set goals. Keep working and heading toward he goal line.
Sight words are going great. Your child does not have to test on these every day. I do recommend at least once or twice a week.

Grammar
We are still working on questions and question words. There will be a short test on Thursday to see how well the students have comprehended questions. There is also a sheet in the homework packet.
Spelling
The spelling words are the same as last week. The words are when, where, why, who, then, path, thick, cloth, which, and what. Just a reminder, our reading units last for two weeks. We will only test at the end of the two week cycle. This way the students have longer to work on their words. There is a few spelling activities in the homework packet. The test will be on Thursday this week.
Yeah First Grade
My homeroom class won first place in the door decorating contest. A BIG thanks to Courtney Wetzel for helping decorate the door for us. We received a $25 Gift Certificate to Scholastic, Pickle and Popcorn Party.
