Comet Communication - Week of May 6th
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo!!!
Students can participate in the celebration by wearing Red, White and Green on Monday!
It's Teacher Appreciation Week!
7th Grade M-Step Testing this Week
Spring Dance
Cost to attend will be $5, tickets will be available for sale the day of the dance. Snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase at the dance!
Chromebook Responsibility
As we continue through our State Testing Window over the next few weeks, it is very important that your child attends every day with their Chromebook and with it Fully Charged.
While we have a few loaners that we are usually willing to provide to students, those will be reserved for Testing over the next few weeks. Without a Chromebook it will be more difficult for your student to access the classroom items that they may need.

6th Grade Parents - Reproductive Health Information
You should have received the letter included below regarding the Reproductive Health Unit that will be covered in the 6th Grade Health Class in the coming weeks.
This letter is to inform you that your son/daughter will begin studying Reproductive Health Education in Health Class on Monday, April 29th (boys) and Monday, May 6th (girls).
Our class will be using a program produced by Human Relations Media Center called The Puberty Workshop and Curriculum. It is a video and print series that teaches the basics about human development - the role of hormones, the structure and function of the reproductive system for boys and girls, the onset of new feelings and emotions that are part of growing up, taking care of personal hygiene, and an introduction to the topic of HIV and AIDS.
If you would like an opportunity to review the materials used in class, please contact me at the Junior High School at 269-468-2405 and leave a message with the school secretary. I will return your call after school or during my planning period which is the 4th period of the day. You may also email me at crocca@ccs.coloma.org. I will return your email or call you as soon as possible. You should also be aware that you are welcome to observe the instruction.
If you want your child excused from this instruction, please sign and return the bottom portion of this letter with your child. If I do not receive a signed note asking that your child be excused I will expect that he/she will participate in the instruction. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter please call me at the Junior High office or email me.
Thank you,
Caterina Rocca
Health Teacher

State Assessments
7th - ELA 5/7, Math 5/9
Any students that were absent during an M-Step date will be pulled for Make-up testing from their regularly scheduled classes.
It is important the students do their very best on the assessments and we ask that you make sure that they have a good night's rest prior to testing dates. We will make sure that each group is provided breakfast prior to testing. We want our Comet's to Show What They Know!
If you would like more information about the State Assessments, I have attached a link for a parent letter from MDE here.
