Holicong Weekly Update
Back in the Game!
Teacher & Nurse Appreciation Week
A huge shout out to our entire faculty as we look ahead to Teacher Appreciation Week this week. It is impossible to capture in words the dedication and expertise the Holicong team brings each and every day. It takes a special person to be a middle school teacher as you have to plan engaging lessons with an academic level of rigor each day...but that is just the start. They are committed to supporting students as they are challenged with many first-time life situations from how to handle a conflict with a good friend, to struggling with stress, a change in peer groups, and so many more issues that affect our students in a complex world.
Our teachers strive to relationships with students so that all students have an opportunity to have a positive connection with an adult here. I told the team in a separate communication that I don't know if anyone has figured out "the middle school student" but I can assure our entire community that we should consider ourselves lucky as we are surrounded by amazing educators and individuals who have figured this out and done so with a combination of expertise, kindness, and grace.
If you would like to give a "shout out" to a teacher, team, or our school certified nurse Mrs. Irrera or staff nurse Mrs. Hamilton, please take a moment to click on the Shout Out link above and we will make sure they see it! And thank you to those who made a donation to our Teacher Appreciation Week activities - your generosity has allowed us to create a variety of ways to show your appreciation as a community!

Mental Health Awareness Month - This month is also mental health awareness month and next week we will Mrs. Louderback, Mrs. Chickanosky, and Mrs. Pierangeli will provide students and parents with a review & updates on the mental health supports we offer at Holicong and in CBSD. Please also see the flyer above about the Dream Big rally being hosted at Lenape Middle School on Saturday.
9th Grade Update - Thank you to Mr. Maigur, Mr. McVey and Mrs. Smith for providing students with the end of the year information during I & E on Friday. There are many exciting events as these students "begin the end" with the Washington, DC trip.
Spring Chorus Concert - The 7th & 8th grade chorus kicked off the spring concert season in fashion! We tried to get out as many pics and videos on the Twitter account as we could so please continue to follow us and check the website. We are excited for week 2 with the Spring Band concert this Thursday!
Talent Show - Mr. Glaser will be meeting with students who have signed up for the end of the year talent show. We encourage students to take a chance and "get in the game" and if you have any questions students can reach out to him directly.
Team Time - Thank you to our team leaders & teachers for planning a variety of wellness and academic enrichment activities on Friday. It was great to see so many of our kiddos out an about playing games like capture the flag, wiffleball, coloring, and too many others to mention here. A reminder that getting away from screens and collaborating with peers and teachers is a great way to build healthy relationships!
Faces of Holicong - Community Service with Abby & Sophia - Please see our newest Faces of Holicong as Mrs. Pierangeli interviews Abby and Sophia about two community service projects and fundraisers they are doing running! They are supporting those in need well outside of our Holicong boundary - like Puerto Rico and the Ukraine! Please watch the video to learn more about their work and how you can contribute!
Say Something - For our music lovers! Here is H-Factor led by Emery & Damon on a beautiful rendition of this song! Shout out to the group and Mr. Glaser!
SAFE2SAY & SAP (Student Assistant Program) - Students received an overview of these resources in…resource class. We have posted the links directly to both of these resources on the Holicong homepage on the right side under School Links - Holicong MS / Homepage (cbsd.org).

- Autism Acceptance Infinity Mural - You will see in the pictures above the culmination of the work we did in our schoolwide I & E where students learned about ASD and shared their own meaning.
