Kids Become Over Weight Due To More Time In Front Of A TV.

It Says...

“Adolescents in Canada spend almost 35 hours a week in front of a TV or computer screen - more time than in the classroom over the course of a year.”


I Say...

In my opinion, I think this quote is worthwhile to think about because if we think about the future, we would realize that people, mostly kids, use a device for their education or for free time, rarely going outside to have some exercise. This means that in the future people will mostly rely on technology, rather than brain power or themselves as well. This will cause kids to become more overweight in the future and also depleting their life expectancy. I feel that we should become more aware of long- term effects than short-term effects because when we look at short-term effects, we will notice that we have gained more weight, but we can also lose that weight as well, so no problem. But if we look at the long-term effects, we see that we have a reduced life expectancy as studies show. When I first read this quote, I was amazed that kids that are my age or older, spend more time in front of TV or computer screen , then spending time in a classroom. This means that this would affect their studies because of being on a device for a long period of time, doing things that are not educational, such as YouTube.

Why does this topic matter so much? Well, it matters because many kids and teens do not get their daily amount of studying, which is, as studies show, 7-8 hours a day, and around 30 hours each week. This means that many kids spend 5 hours more on a device, than studying. Thus, this makes them overweight, and as studies show, they will have an aggressive behavior, as they grow up, impacting them and the people around them. What can we do? Well, if you are a kid, reading this, you should spend more time studying, such as 4 hours a day or more and 2 hours or less on a TV or a device. This would help you get better grades and as well as getting your mental exercise. You could also have a healthy diet and exercise much more. If you are a parent reading this, you should force your child/children to do homework and educational things, and then tell them they could go on a device for 2 hours, after studying for 3 hours. A solution could be that the amount of hours you spend in front of a TV/computer screen, you should double that amount and do that much exercise and studying in a day. This will get through everyone by organizing a Marathon called “Class Over Weight”. This will be for everyone, especially for people who is spending more time on an device than studying or they gain a lot of weight. This will help them lose weight and keep their mind diverted.
