The Season of Advent Begins!
This weekend begins the first Sunday in Advent! Advent is a time in our church where we prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas. During these four weeks, we prepare ourselves for Jesus' birth at Christmas through prayer and reflection.
During Advent, priests wear purple vestments each Sunday. The only exception is on the Third Sunday of Advent, known as Joyful Sunday, when priests can wear rose-colored vestments. This exception is designed to encourage us to continue our prayer and fasting, because we can see that Advent is more than halfway over.
The Advent wreath is a symbol of Advent. During our November Zoom Meetings, we discussed different creative ways to create an Advent Wreath. Each Sunday in Advent, light the candle and pray together as a family.
Mass Readings for Sunday, November 28: The First Sunday in Advent
Advent is a season of hope and expectation! We are invited to prepare joyfully for the coming of Christ. As Catholics, we believe that Christ comes to us in different ways:
- He comes in history at his conception and birth. We celebrate this coming at Christmas.
- He comes in mystery. This means Jesus is with us through the sacraments, and especially the Eucharist.
- He comes in majesty, on that Last Day described in this weekend's Gospel.
Advent is the start of a new liturgical year, with our reflection on the Lord's final coming at the end of time. We look forward to it with happy anticipation, not with fear. We do not know when the end of time will take place. What is certain is that our own lives will one day come to an end, and we will be reunited with Jesus and God.
Family Faith Formation 2022: Register Now!
Registration for Family Faith 2022 is Open!
Registration for Family Faith 2022 open! We hope our Family Faith Formation 2022 will provide greater opportunities for family sharing and meeting together. Beginning in January, we will start our program virtually with weekly newsletters and monthly zoom meeting. Since the weather is too cold to meet in-person outside, depending on the progress of the pandemic, we will explore different options to meet inside. Hopefully, by the spring time, our goal is to transition from monthly zoom meetings to in-person classes, similar to our Family Faith Program prior to the pandemic.
We hope you will join us in growing your family's faith during our next year that starts in January 2022! To register your child for Family Faith Religious Education 2022, please complete and submit this form. Kindly note the following:

Activities for Family
The Countdown Begins! Create an Advent Calendar
Advent is a time of preparing and waiting for Christ. For children, they look forward and count down the days until Christmas!
An Advent calendar is a special calendar used to count the days of Advent (in December) in anticipation of Christmas. This is a fun activity to help children visualize and understand this time of waiting.
Have your child create an Advent Calendar at home! Use the ideas below for children to gather ideas, then create their own.

A Bunny's Snack-The Snowman's Nose!
This white snow bunny slowly approached the tiny snowman. He cautiously checked him out before he began chomping on his dinner-the carrot as the snowman's nose!
As this grandmother explained to her grandkids, this bunny was giving the snowman a gentle kiss!
