LE Linden Pay it Forward (Strategic Plan: 1E) Mrs. Heckmans’s second graders were asked to write letters for the Linden Pay it Forward. Students brainstormed about what they enjoy about the Linden community. In addition, they wrote 3 personal goals of how they are going to Pay it Forward. For example, take a neighbors garbage out, talk to someone who doesn't have many friends, and pick up garbage around the neighborhood. Their letters were used to decorate the front of the "Beloved Books" book store in downtown Linden.
LE Dr. Wax Lace up for Learning (Strategic Plan: 1E) Dr. Wax Orthodontics sponsored a Lace up for Learning 5K Run/Walk this year on November 2, 2019. A portion of each registration fee is donated back to the school in which the participant registered under. This year Linden El was one of 52 schools that participated and received a check for $40. This race is held every first Saturday in November.
LE Stuff the Bus (Strategic Plan: 1E) Kuddos to our Linden Elementary students and families. We collected 1306 items for the county wide Stuff the Bus Campaign. This was a County-wide Community Food Share Program sponsored by Fenton Area Resources and Referral Network, Inc. (FARR). Congratulations to our first and second grade students who brought in over 400 items in each grade level. You can view pictures on the Linden Community Schools Facebook page.
LE Snuggle Sacks (Strategic Plan: 1E) Linden Elementary staff volunteered their time to help pack Snuggle Snacks for the homeless. In additional many items were donated to fill the sacks. Thank you to Heidi Phifer, one of our second grade teachers for bringing this cause to our building.
LE MEMSPA Conference (Strategic Plan: 4C) This past week, principal at Linden Elementary and Hyatt Elementary attended the annual MEMSPA conference in Traverse City. The sessions and keynotes were exceptional and included; Dr. Anthony Muhammund, Maria Tate, and Joe Sanfelippo, PhD.
LE Staff Meeting (Strategic Plan: 1A) Linden Elementary staff meeting this week was focused on completing our Student Risk Screening Scale or SRSS survey with staff. This survey is a universal screener for behavior and social/emotional risks. It is part of our year 2 PPSC training. The data will be used to identify students who are at risk, provide appropriate interventions and monitor its effectiveness. This is the first time completing the survey but is typically administered three times per year.
LE Late Start Day (Strategic Plan: 1A) This month’s Linden Elementary Late Start topic was the Check In/Check Out Intervention or CICO. CICO is a positive support, time-limited intervention. The Goal is to support students to be more successful in schools by teaching self-management skills and getting adult attention in meaningful ways. Its premise is for adults to have positive interactions with students, even when providing corrective feedback.
LE Safety Patrol (Strategic Plan: 1D) Kudos to our Safety Patrol. They are an important part of our arrival and dismissal routine. Mrs. Sova has been an integral part in encouraging this group of students to be responsible, respectful and safe and to identify such by giving out Safety Stars. When students receive five stars they will receive a personal note from the principal.
LE PALS Secret Santa Shoppe (Strategic Plan:1D) Linden Elementary PALS coordinated another successful Secret Santa Shop for students to buy Christmas presents. Students had personal shoppers and were able to have their presents wrapped too! We had a little Santa as well donate extra money for students who did not bring money to purchase items for their family.
LE/HE/CE K-5 Elementary Christmas Gathering (Strategic Plan: 4B) Linden Elementary, Central Elementary and Hyatt Elementary held a Christmas Gathering at The Fenton Winery this past week. It was great to meet and socialize with LCS elementary staff.
