Should you throw your old phone batteries away?
You actually shouldn't throw your phone batteries away, even though thousands of people do it anyways. Phones and their batteries have toxic substances containing mercury, lead, zinc, and arsenic that can be very harmful to the environment and people. Some workers have been poisoned, burned, and even blinded while trying to crush garbage.

Lead
Lead is a chemical element in the carbon group with symbol Pb and atomic number 82.
Mercury
Mercury is a chemical element with the symbol Hg and atomic number 80. It is commonly known as quicksilver and was formerly named hydrargyrum.
