Henry Happenings

Principal Message
Dear Henry Families,
Wow! We had such a great turnout at our Family Movie Night on Friday. Honestly, we did not know how many movie goers to expect, but you far exceeded our expectations. Thank you to our PTO for having Enoch's Food Truck present. Who knew we could have supported at least two more food trucks? We are thrilled to see our community joining together again. Thank you, Henry!
Last week was our first early release day. On these days students will have an opportunity to learn about the 7 Habits during a lesson and activities in their classroom and meet with their buddy during our buddy class time. Last week the lesson focused on the first habit, be proactive. If you did not hear about these activities, please take a moment to ask your child about being proactive or meeting their new buddy.
Remember, this Friday is picture day. Get the outfits ready and practice those smiles!
As always, if you have any questions please let me know.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jodi Oliver
Principal

A Note From Nurse Lisa
Fall allergy season is upon us! Signs of seasonal allergies include: runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing and worsening of asthma symptoms, all of which can make it difficult for students to do their best in class. Many allergy symptoms can be treated with over the counter antihistamines, allergy eye drops and nasal sprays. If your child suffers from allergy symptoms, consider consulting with your health care provider about the best options for treating them. If you would like your child to receive allergy medication at school, you will need to send in the medication and the following, completed form.
PTO Trivia and Auction Night
Be on the lookout for Trivia and Auction items coming up. Our Trivia & Auction Night is the evening of February 25th at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Soon you will have a chance to vote on a trivia theme and round topics. If you have ideas please send them to henrytrivia@gmail.com.
A huge piece of the Trivia and Auction Night is securing items for the auction. We are looking for volunteers to reach out to local businesses. You are given a list of local businesses (around 10) and can reach out via email, phone, or in person, We also have a good number of opportunities to reach out to businesses via online forms, just let me know which method you would prefer. All of these businesses have supported Henry in the past and if they say no or don't get back to you then that is just how it is. No pressure at all. If you are willing to help out with this vital piece please reach out to Kari at henrytrivia@gmail.com by Sunday, September 25th. We will work to secure donations during the months of October and November.
Volunteer Opportunities
We hope you have gotten back in the swing of things this school year. We are so excited to be able to get back into Henry and do more things to help out. That also means there are more volunteer opportunities than there have been the past several years. Volunteers are a critical element at Henry and there is something for everyone. We have weekend activities, evening activities, and items during the day. There are items for people who like to organize and plan and items for those who just like to show up and do. Please take a minute to look and see what you would like to be involved with. https://forms.gle/WZvxa4BkzxN29qmf9 And thank you to those who have already jumped in and volunteered. Our first 2 events (Breakfast for the teachers and Welcome Breakfast) were organized by volunteers who hadn't been in that position before and they did it flawlessly. Don't hesitate to jump into a volunteer slot. Thank you in advance!
Steps to become a Volunteer can be found here - https://www.parkwayschools.net/domain/783 You need to take this step if you plan on going on any field trips with your child, volunteer with Reader In Me during the day, Help out in the Library, do 5th grade activities in the Spring, or do any other activities that involve contact with students when you are unsupervised by teachers.
Student Activity Fees-Rycor Payment System
